A couple things. First of all you need to carry your speed through the bottom. It always feelss like you are going faster then you are. Once you are headed up an 18 foot wall you lose alot of speed ( thus the 2 feet out) That being said 2 feet out is a great place to start if you have never hit pipte before. The trick to staying in and not landing on the deck is POP, however it s a little fdifferent then off of a jump. When you pop in the pipe you have to line up your hips with the knuckle of the deck an look where you want to land. If you just pop and dont do those 2 things you will still not have much luck.
POP
Line up your Hips ( kida like you would for landing a hip jump
Look for you landing
Oh yean and dont think about turning you body at all, I have seen alot if people get in the pipe and do 180's back and forth down the pipe. Just look and think straight air on a hip jump and you will be good to go.
Good Luck!
