CR Johnson has Passed Away

I just got a text message. Apparently CR hit his head on a rock while skiing Headwall (Squaw) this morning and has passed away. I will keep this thread updated with details as I get them.

Me to, those first few pages are so hard to get through. Just the unfairness of someone who gave so much being taken away from this world....Still hard to get my head around.

R.I.P CR, wish I could have met him, seen him ski, or even just heard him. Truly an inspiration, no one will ever forget what he did for skiing.

I still can't believe it. You're segment in EDIAS and Seven sunny days still amazes me. One day we will all cross eachothers paths in endless winter powder glades. Ugh I think we all remember exactly where we were when we heard about this. East coast got Dumped on the next few days, we all shredded some pow for C.R. RIP to a legend and a true inspiration to all.

Reading this thread while listening to we miss you by cali p brought a lot of tears to my eyes. sadly i have class tomorrow but im going to watch all of his segments and reflect on what a great skier and just a man CR was. Just thinking about how its been a year is mind blowing. I and many others have lost an idol but he will never will be forgotten. WE MISS YOU CR!!! RIP :'(

Almost a whole year, I was really looking forward to meeting you to be at Momentum last summer, I always watch your Retallack segment and it inspires me, you were an enlightened person after your accident and you continue to inspire me remind me to embrace every aspect of life. All i know is today, like every other day im skiing, i ski with the memory of you in my mind and heart. I didn't know who CR was until i really started getting into skiing this season and just from the things I've seen and read he's already one of the most inspirational people I've ever heard of. His passion for skiing and life is truly amazing.

I wish CR could see all this; how much love the community had for him, all the people who sent love out to him. I still can't believe he's gone. I see his edits and think "shit this guy is a legend" and then I remember he is gone, and its the worst feeling.

I still find it hard to believe... I came back from a day of skiing at Jackson, logged on to NS... and as I started to read this thread, my eyes got wet. It was all I could do to keep from sobbing. Such a legend, such an amazing person, who passed away well before his time. The next day in Jackson, was the best I have ever had, so incredibly sad but inspiring at the same time. For that, I thank you, Charles Russell Johnson. May you rest in peace. I'll be skiing for you today.

that means its exactly a year and one day since i skied the headwall at Squaw. heard the next day when we were skiing at Alpine about CJ. We were pretty much in shock....
