CR Johnson has Passed Away

I just got a text message. Apparently CR hit his head on a rock while skiing Headwall (Squaw) this morning and has passed away. I will keep this thread updated with details as I get them.

Watched this segment yesterday....They look like their having so much fun together. CR just seems so content and at peace when he speaks. It saddens me to know he had so many more epic trips ahead of him cut short. His presence was and will continue to be strong in the skiing community.

This feels like losing  close friend even though I've never met him in person CR is one of the greatest all-around skiers ever, more importantly, he also seemed like a great person. RIP CRJ.

when i first heard this a friend who is new to the ski community asked me who cr was, i said that i didn't and i asked why she was asking. she says oh because some friends of mines status' are rip cr. at first i didn't believe it, that it was cr, the guy who i had watched in numerous coc, pbp, and other edits, the guy who i would get stoked on his tricks and i would wanna go out and try them. but sadly it was true.

please keep this "sticky" longer than the explaination of a video contest out of respect for our fallen hero and hopefully there can be a dedicated area on the interwebs to pay respects. CR's attitude and appreciation for life, skiing, friends and family is a glowing example of how everyone should live their lives everyday. CR's another reason to ski as much as possible and to be happy. Celebrate it.

CR's segment in The Front Line truly dictated the direction of my life. the chain reaction his segment set off caused me to compete in skiing up to this point, go to many a ski camps when i was younger, charge hard all winter long, and truly grow my LOVE FOR SKIING. His crazy bio tens and everything in slow motion to INVINCIBLE by C.N.N. was epic beyond words. That segment instantly became and still is my favorite segment EVER. I had the honor of briefly meeting CR a couple of times and he was a super nice guy. To this day my favorite song to ski to is INVINCIBLE. I still have a pair of unreleased Smith googles he gave to me when I was a younger right after dominating pipe at the Winter X Games. I still use them as my night skiing and super flat light googles to this day. Skiing the 60 + inches of powder last weekend in Mammoth, shredding with his old googles, listening to INVINCIBLE, I got this feeling and just know he is still shredding somewhere, super happy, and will be watching over us all when we charge the mountain.

SSD seg still puts me on the verge of tears...no homo and i dont even care if i cry thats probably the saddest skiing death i've seen to date, knowing that he died on a chute that I've personally skied before a few times is what really hits home. having been injured before i know how much hard work and time it takes to get back to normal. his situation was exponentially more intense than mine and to have all that hard work, passion, and positivity come to an end like that is beyond any words i can type into my macbook right now. again RIP CRJ.
