Is Bobby Brown is next Shawn White? I hope not

Since Bobby Brown's gold at X games at such a young age, he could end like being what Shawn White is right now. He could end up dominating the podium every year with gold but sadly could be caught up in all the media hype and sponsors like White. I could easily see this happen to Brown in the future. This is just a prediction and not what I want to happen, just saying. I have much respect for Brown but he could be the next Shawn White in the good way and the bad way.

He is fucking good, but there are so many other guys that slay so i dont see him winning gold in like every event every year.

I see it this way:

Shawn White - been going to Windell's since age 4, been popular his whole life, rides for the biggest snowboard company in the world, interesting persona. That's why he's a household name (and that's aside from his bag of tricks)

Bobby Brown - hasn't been going to Windell's since he was 4, hasn't been popular his whole life, rides for a normal ski company, has a normal persona. Also, skiing isn't as big right now as snowboarding.

I think we'd hear more talk about Bobby Brown already from everyday people if he was gonna be the next Shawn White.

Not really sure if any of that made sense. W/e.

Also look at this

Tanner Hall is still probably the biggest name in freestyle skiing.

Shawn white is the biggest name in "freestyle" snowboarding.

And they are not on the same popularity scale.

Dumb thread.

So as soon as everyone wins their first big event, they are about to become the next Shawn White?

1. He has core sponsors.

2. He films with friends and local filmers(scooter).

3. He is super down to earth.

4.He was forced into the terrible situation of dropping out of JOSS due to terrible pressure. That's not selling out, is it?

no, because bobby is considerate, respectful and reasonable. He would have to change his attitude into a shitty/lame one if he wanted to be like shawn white.

Here is what it comes down to. Bobby Brown will never become Shawn White for this reason.

If any of you had the opportunity to watch White's interview on 60 Minutes a couple weeks ago, he explains that he isn't friends with any of his competitors because he "can't be." He can't be friends with people he wants to beat that bad on the snow.

Personally a retarded reason and the main reason he doesn't have too many friends on the circuit.

Bobby Brown is extremely humble and very well liked through the ski world. He kills it, super friendly dude, and very, very down to earth.

I was at Keystone before the X Games and saw Bobby B, the Wells brothers, and Colby all shredding together with a bunch of little shredwards killing it on the jumpline. I don't think the kid has an enemy in the industry! He's friends with all the guys he competes with.

Shawn White and Bobby Brown are worlds apart, and it will remain that way.

snowboarding is more popular, bobby wasnt popular last year where as shaun has been huge for years, bobby has to win x in i guess rollerblading, and skiing has to be an olympic sport(halfpipe), and its shaun not shawn

I've met Bobby before he even went to the x-games, ive known the guy since before he won the north american open at breck. The guy is way to down to earth to become the next White. He and his family have tryed their best to maintain "normal" and plan to keep it that way as best as they can.

Shaun White is a fucking douche bag, hogs all the spotlight in his sport, and just gives snowboarding a bad rep in my opinion.

Bobby is a down-to-earth guy, who by no means tries to hog the spotlight (ref: https://newschoolers.com/web/forums/readthread/thread_id/524451/), and is a great representative of our sport because he is humble and not a cocky douche bag like Shaun White.

I believe bobby brown will not turn into Shaun White for 2 reasons.

1.He's too nice of a guy.  He gave up a possible spot in Joss to someone with less opportunity.
2.People progress in our sport so fast that someone will get just as good or better than him eventually.

shaun white is huge because he dominates, and it so far ahead of every other snowboarder, (at least in public eyes)  But there is no way bobby could do that, he just isn't that much better than everyone else IMO, for sure he is sick and has done great, but he isn't so amazing that no one can beat him

NS has the biggest man-crush I've ever seen on Shaun White. People are just begging to have even one person in skiing as popular as him.

You can deny it all you want, but if you truly didn't give a shit about Shaun White, or how popular he is, you wouldn't make 5 threads a day about him.

Well the way I see it is, Shaun White is and for the most part always has been a huge tool. Bobby seems very down to earth. I'm sure if he started to slip the same direction as Shaun his friends would let him know and he'd cool off.

Bobby Brown not only raped X-Games but he also dominated the Dew Tour this year, he is still very young and tallented. ok atm he certaily isn't the new shaun white but in the future if he continues to dominate every comp then he may become more well known.

i agree to a certain extent, but you have to recognise that snowboarding is a completely different ball game because the market appeals to alot more of the general public, therefore it's not really a possibility for brown to become a "shawn white, ryan sheckler" in that sense. however in the competition sense and as far as skiing endorsements go, we already have faggots like simon dumont paving the way in that field. Bobby brown is a young exiting talent. he and afew others are the future of our sport. i can only hope he keeps his head on his shoulders and keeps on slayin fo the people
