Simon is far too big a name and therefore Lucrative not to have i'm afraid.... i've said it before and i'll say it again, JOSS is at the end of the day a business venture... the aim is to make it the highest profile freeski event of the year, thus you need the biggest names... BB became an overnight sensation at X and nobody really saw that coming.... prob not even JO - you know for a fact he'll be there next year though... same with Wallisch... he became the biggest name in freeskiing - he goes to JOSS...
it's all about the business... JO is a smart guy, great all round skiier and a super driven individual - i have as much respect for him as a businessman as a skiier
It's all about exposure and profile and $$.... that said - here is an opportunity to really launch a career for someone..... through the NS vote with this... it's an opportunity for the lessen known pro, with style and true talent. Don't waste it. Bobby doesn't need it now.... so respect to him for that. Remember Wallisch and superunkown.. now it's your time to influence someone's career that much.
This, whoever gets voted in better be able to lay down some utterly sick tricks off the big kickers, like rightside 1440, smooth/fully grabbed double 12s etc. If we get some east coast rail kid throwing ugly 7s and 9s I am going to be pissed.
No idea why you retards had a problem with Bobby Brown being one of the three. Jon builds the best jumps in the world and the best park skiers/jumpers in the world should be hitting them. Period.
EXACTLY!
And how much $$ do you think Red Bull is throwing at this event? There is NO WAY Simon would not be going....
It's not Show-Friends .... it's Show-BUSINESS....
It's inevitable i'm afraid.... the reason Jon would want Bobby there more then anything is probably his profile now after X...
Of course, we'd all love to see him out there because of his riding....
Imagine you were putting on an event that you market (Market being the key word here) as the best, most innovative freeski comp in the world.... you're not gonna just invite your friends... you want the best of the best, the biggest names and the biggest sponsors (so of course JO wants Bobby out there, he is PERFECT for this "event" in his eyes. I say event because that's what this is - it's an exhibition....)
It's not selling out, it's just the way the world is - no such thing as a free lunch.
The flip side to that though now is, with this contest, is that WE get to give someone who maybe fairly unrecognised in the same context as the Dumonts, Halls, Schiller and now Wallischs and of course most lately Brown the opportunity to market themselves on a huge stage, we basically get to give someone the opportunity to propel their pro ski career into that next level, the top level just as BB did at X.... so they need to be at that level and capable of delivering and deserving, in all of your eyes of that opportunity.... it's a tough one... but an immense opportunity for the riders...
Sorry for being Cynical though....
i won't argue that, but i will argue that ns failing to vote lolo to JOSS, while already having forced bobby to pull out, is irrefutable proof that ns has failed as a voting community, and thus that jon had every right to mistrust it.
