Can i just unscrew my ski bindings?

Would it be bad ii just unscrewed my ski bidnings, i plan to re-attach them a couple minutes later i just want to put the heel piece of my old binding over that same spot to check something.

Is it as simple as screwing and unscrewing?

yes, use a #3 hand screwdriver (you can use a power drill, but if you're new to mounting/unmounting it's a bad idea). Before you remount them simple put some wood glue in the holes (just a tiny bit) to help waterproof it.

Pretty much, you need some glue in the holes before you put your binding back on for good.

Sorry i had a typo, i ment put the heal piece of my new binding in the spot. m probably getting them re-mounted tomorrow a just want to see if the brakes fit well or not. If i dont get them mounted id be using the old bindings for 1 more time (thursday) then do away with them so is the glue still necessary?

A normal philips head wont work?

a number 3 is a phillipshead, just a bit bigger than the normal one

yes, cause the glue is what keeps it watertight, without it water can get into the holes and cause the core to rot causing a pull-out.

A #3 screwdriver is a Phillips Head Screwdriver, it's just a size. A "normal" phillips head is usually a size 2, you usually need something bigger or you risk striping the screw head making it next to impossible to take the binding off. It looks like a regular phillips head, but the tip is flatter and wider.

Ski binding screws are not Philips Heads. 

You are supposed to use a #3 Pozidriv screwdriver with these screws to prevent stripping them, however a #3 Philips will usually work, just be careful.

yeah, but I figured he didn't happen to have one lying around, it's hard enough to have a #3 lying around.

You don't have to take off your current binding to do that. Turn your ski upside down and put the other binding on top of the ski's base to see if the brake fits. Or you could just measure the brake and then measure your ski.
