Everyone has a different view on what skiing is. Many of you consider skiing to be anything that involves a pair of skis. I think thats a cool way to look at it and will provoke a lot of creative thinking, but I do not feel that way. Skiing to me, is skiing. Utilizing every part of your skis, carving, using your edges, usually done on a mountain. Park skiing is skiing to an extent, but going strait into a jump doing a trick and landing is pretty much aerials. Carving off off of jumps, SKIING into jumps is how one makes park skiing actual skiing. There are a lot of very talented athletes competing in JOSS, all of whom are very good at what they do. But Joss needs a skier who can ski and bring something new to the table.

No, I don't really know him, so I might seem like a fucking creep, but hes the only entry carving hard, doing some different variations of grabs, and really skiing. I know everyone likes to see a skier who is a little bit more unique, so lets send him to JOSS.

I fully, 100% agree.

Chris's style is so fucking ill, and he's one of the few who can carve the shit out of jumps well.

I know his stuff will look amazing on some big ass jumps.

god dammit not another carve hard grab blunt thread. Chris Logan kills it thats for damn sure. But if everyone carved into there spins and grabbed blunt all the time it would get so boring. I know he can do other grabs but I don't personally fee like he should compete in JOSS. Is he underrated? maybe. But people will do what they want on skis and everyone has a definition of what skiing is. I don't think going off a jump straight is aerials what so ever. But I have my opinion and other people have theirs.

didn't mention blunt grabs. Plus theres a lot of not blunt in that edit too. And we don't have anyone carve hard grabbing blunt in JOSS, so I do not understand how it would get boring.

agreed. thats why im not real stoked on traveling circus. it really is a circus. theyre all great guys and kill it respectively but some shit im just like, wtf.

If you would have read for comprehension, you would have realized that this is not a carve hard grab blunt thread. Chris does not always grab blunt, or carve hard. As was stated by the Wise Billem, he does grab variations, and uses his skis. Not carve hard grab blunt.

If everyone skied straight into jumps, that would get pretty damn boring too, wouldn't it? Carving into your big spins is the illest. Straight lining into a jump and sending a laid out backflip is the illest.

It's all about SKIING, not just using skis to get into the air, because that's aerials. THAT'S what this thread is about.

I'm waiting for more kids who can do good cork 3's and 5's without carving. Carving is sick a lot of the time but kids that can only do certain tricks while carving bother me.

carved cork 3s and 5s or any corks for that matter look soo much smoother, are on a different axis, and are more fun than non carved ones.

cork 3 without a carve would be dope though. ive never done or seen one. the carve sets the pop so you dont land backseat i feel like.

you make the claim that non-carved tricks aren't skiing, but aerials. but really, non-carved tricks can look really cool and i think its way more impressive with certain tricks to be able to do them without a carve (i.e. cork 3's and 5's). i just feel like carving certain tricks like that are just an easy route to learning the trick, whereas being able to do them with a good takeoff often takes more skill

i think you are confused what a "good takeoff" is. Skiing into something straight legged and just flat on you bases takes skill? No, sorry. Anyone can stand upright and slide down a hill... you just stand there...More skill? you are further proving the OP's point.

You have to know how to SKI in order to properly use your edges. I am not taking away from anyone, but this is one of the stupidest statements I have ever heard.

no his statement isn't stupid. it's way easier to set certain tricks (cork 3, cork 5, sw 7 for example) with a carve. i agree that it would be way harder to do those tricks off a straight-in set.

the point isn't that i would necessarily want to see those tricks off a straight set. i think you're right that it wouldn't be as flowy. but for argument's sake, the guy is absolutely right that carving into a jump doesn't ALWAYS take more skill. try to ski straight into a trick that you usually carve into... it's pretty hard once you're used to carving!

What? Traveling Circus is a totally different vibe and style of skiing than this. They mostly do really tech rail stuff. Don't try to compare the two, I like them both for very different reasons.

Someone needs to enlighten me as to why there's a discussion about carving into tricks to introduce this dude's entry, which is sick by the way. I think we all agree that aerials are gymnastics on skis but why does this relate to JOSS????

hah it sounds really dumb to be honest, the point being that carving into jumps makes it skiing, but its scratching the surface of something thats pretty damn true. i think i notice it more on landings, and mostly switch landings. theres a huge difference between just landing switch doin a huge awkward snow plow down the landing, and landing with your skis together, going right into a smooth switch carve.

Because a lot of skiers that are competing in JOSS have very similar styles in my opinion. And Joss could use a little spice on things, which I feel Chris Logan could provide and we could provide him a spot in the contest if we vote for his entry...

kay im not trying to be mean here but your op is just not making any sense, i can't think of one skiers potentially competing in JOSS who doesn't know how to ski and carve and simply does "aerials" in the air.  IMO from what im seeing here logan is just as generic from what you're describing even though i do think hes a good skier... take a look at favre's entry...now that is a bit different

Alright there is no debate on weather carving is "harder", its the fact that its skiing, we got metal edges in the 60's so they would be used....fucking use em. Lots of you sound fucking stupid, Chris is waaaaaaaay better than alot of the kids whos dicks you dangle from. Hope he goes to Joss for skiings sake hes a skiers skier.
