my friend did this it doesnt look bad he cut the sleeves off but the only thing that looks dumb is the fact he stapled the seams so it didnt fall apart, but you cant even tell really
I cut some piece of shit jacket into a vest a couple years ago and it worked pretty well. just cut the outer part and mesh part separately then sew them together at the shoulder and hem it so it doesnt look messy. And if it has seems right on the shoulder where you would cut it just remove them instead of cutting the fabric.
i like vests. adam delorme had a cut up saga (he was my coach at windells) you have to cut it just below the seams so it doesnt falla apart. which saga jacket is it?
ive cut and sewn hoodie vests before, just make sure when you cut off the sleeves, you fold the end over and do a nice lil double stitch all the way around so it doesnt fray or rip.

I'm jealous of you having the means to blow $200 on a jacket two years in a row. Damn I need a better job. The vest looks pretty cool, but like someone said, you just rendered the tech waterproofing useless. I guess form over functionality is what people care about these days
