Leashes instead of brakes

i just mounted my fks bindings a week ago and out of 4 brake arms, i have one left. so im thinking about attaching a leash to one of my legs incase the ski without any brakes comes off so that it doesnt go down the hill and kill a child. anybody have any bad experiences with this? i can imagine it not hurting if i eat shit in the landing but itd suck so much if i pulled off a ski or something in the air

my buddy has leashes on his 155s mounted on bents. seems to work fine, and in pow you dont have to worry about loosing your ski!

Very bad idea! I was pumped on the idea and got a pair about 5 years ago, I used them for half a day until I double ejected and got my ass kicked by my skis. Ski to the face doesnt feel good, you can really hurt yourself!

my friends ski has both brakes broken and he fell at the top on the park and it slid down the whole park and some old fuck was yellling at him saying it could kill someone, thouhg i'd share. and he has to chase his ski everytime it comes off.

its a tough call. i almost lost my ski to a pond last season so i'd say leashes since if you really land in awkward position that could make your ski come back into the leash would prolly break off.

..and maybe dull your edges

I tried this after a pair of STH12's disintegrated. If you take a bit hit, then it can suck. Landing on your ski fucking hurts, and does eating shit, only to have a ski twat you in the back of the head seconds later. And because the leash creates angular velocity, the ski accelerates towards you, just for extra pain.

My advice is to have a friend at the end of every feature who can chase a runaway ski down

The "old fuck" was yelling that because, well, you can. Seriously, ski's sliding down a hill is fucking dangerous, ive heard stories about people who have been harpooned in the head by skis that have been sliding down and caught some air of an innocent little bump. Next thing you know someone has a nice little gash in their skull.

Seriously dont ski without fucking breaks, if anything get a leash. Bad option to begin with but its better than loosing a ski/ endangering others. My break broke once and i had to use a leash just in case it ejected, luckily it didnt and i mounted my new breaks the next day.

no actually...

6-10ft long breaks
attach one end to your boots, one to your skis.  tuck the excess leash up the leg of your pants.   the elastic gaiter that comes standard in most pants will hold the string up out of the way.

i have leashes on my bents... but god damn i am scared to double eject in deep powder. my hellbents are heavy as fuck with some pivots and if i fall in deep pow i keep imagining myself not being able to get out because the skis anchor me down.

Here is some for you:

You fall and double eject. Your skis go in different directions. One nails a small child who has fallen down. The child's father is a former SEAL who vows to punish the perp. The other hits MFM and he pulls a gun and looks for you. You are fucked either way.

Brakes aren't meant to keep you from having to chase after your skis as much as they are meant to protect other people from getting injured by them.

When Frischi Damirs first came out over here, Brakes were ~$50 extra. I went with a biner and 15' of parachute cord in a google bag tucked in the pants worked great for 1/2 the season tomahawked one day and cord didn't deploy and ski whacked me in the back of my head cracking my 3 day old helmet.

Went and bought brakes that afternoon and been sold on helmets since
