Olympic athletes gear

no i dont want to buy it.

what with the gear? i see some people wearing crowbars, and then i see people like hanna kearney wearing shitty flat lens goggles
even Bode Miller has these flat lens Briko goggles, they looks like crap.
and some (non racing skiers, like mogul skiers) wear these crappy looking helmets.

I mean they are olympic athletes with sponsors and all the gear they could possibly need. why don't they wear the nicest stuff? i mean Bode's Birko goggles are flat lenses, wouldnt that be even less aerodynamic? whats the deal?

spherical lenses has less optical distortion, would they want that? do you fucking understand?

its probably similar to how football players ( mostly qbs) dont wear new riddel revos. but the old ones. its jsut what they are used to and have grown acustom too. if it aint broke, dont fix it.

but i would think that its either because its what they are used to, or thats who they are sponsored by, so they need to where it, but idk im sure there are still some pretty decent flat lens optics.

sorry im just pissed that these kids come in here trying to put down a legitimate thread when they are nobodies.

i mean, goggles aren't hard to get used to. i would think it would be easy to switch to a nice comfy spherical lens, and it would be beneficial to their vision. and Briko makes a spherical lens.

 not necessarily. you see race goggles are very functional, not fashionable. they fit perfectly with the helmet, and are designed to allow zero wind draft in your eyes which can cause eye watering which is worse than trying to have a slightly spherical lense.

Pretty sure most Olympic athletes in terms of skiers use the standard company helmets and shit not stuff like R.E.D. and Bren. They use Carrera and other companies that make both goggles and helmets so that there is no goggle gap from using a goggle brand different from your helmet. Cause even with Crowbars you still get a little goggle gap on the sides and when you are racing Super G or Downhill you are fucking FLYING so every bit of skin showing gets fucking COLD.

Well of course theyre not going to use RED, because that shits made by lame ass Burton and only snowboarders can wear it apparently.

I saw many guys rockin Berns during the moguls comp though... And it was starkly obvious.

Also, Giro and Smith both make goggles and helmets, so that theory about Carerra is false.

How long has the US Ski team been using Carrera or Birko? Pretty damn long if I remember right. Most likely they use it cause they always have. Like other people have said, look how little Football helmets have changed. Hell, even Boxing gloves, Baseball helmets/catcher helmets, Goalie masks for Hockey.

Briko is one of Bode's sponsors. He has his own Helmet and goggles with them for people to buy.
A lot of athletes have their own personal sponsors that you might see as shit but is really cutting edge technology Briko have some of the most airodynamic helmets. And they get their own personal lines which brings in money.

Yeah I was talking racing. Pretty sure there is a reason why they use either Carrera helmets and goggles or Birko helmets and goggles from a technical standpoint that most people may not understand.

Also since the olympics are amateur, there are strict regulations on sponsor placement and such. Notice how the goggles have like the smallest symbol ever, (the "O" for oakley)


But besides that this kid is the biggest tool for saying that anyone under 500 posts has no say. It just means were doing other stuff then typing on newschoolers.

Ski racing isn't a fashion show like freeskiing is. So it's not a big deal if their goggles actually fit in their helmets or if they don't look that cool to you. it works for them and they can ski fast.
