Teaching in New Zealand

Hey everybody, doesn't life involve following your dream and heart to be happy. Well my dream is to ski everyday. I was thinking about teaching in New Zealand after I'm done with High School and also teach in the West Coast. Currently I am teaching at Belleayre Mountain in New York. I am going for my PSIA Level 1 Certification. I just have a few questions about teaching in New Zealand. First, what level of certification is recommended? I hear you need at least a Level 2 Certification. Second, where is the ideal mountain to teach in New Zealand. Also is it hard to get a instructor job over there, because you can't really have a job interview in person so it would have to be online or over the phone. If anyone has any knowledge or tips, it would be appreciated. Thanks.

best place to teach in nz is cardrona... you will need your cert though

Hey, it's pretty tough to get a job in NZ as a foreigner, you will need at least your level 2, level 3 would make it easier. I only have my level 2, but I got a visa (not sure how easy this is for Americans) and then went down there for the hiring clinic, like an on snow interview. That is a bit risky though as not everyone makes it through.

As for the best place to work whilst you are down there, it depends what you are after. Treble Cone has the best terrain, but very little work, Cardrona has the best park, but is pretty flat, and for both of those you live in Wanaka. I work at Remarkables because it has the best mix of park and steeps, and you live in Queenstown, if you want to make money, work at Coronet, it's the busiest and richest.

A buddy of mine teaches in AUS at threadbo each summer, and its awesome but hard to get into. I have looked into this for snowboarding and heres the issue: most of the time you have to go down there for the interview with the hopes of being hired. If you have the money to afford the airfare down there and maybe not being hired then go ahead and do it.

quite a few foreigners have jobs at treble cone, a hill near wanaka, so definitely try your luck there. They don't have much of a park though but its known for its big mountain
