Saw this on Apple's trailer page. New documentary/film coming out, called House of Numbers. Looks like it is going to try to stir things up a bit. Watch the preview before you comment to get an idea of the argument they are trying to present.

I remember talking about this in a biology class, but never fully understood it. I think it will be interesting to see the facts(or lack of) that they present against it.

I've never heard of this theory. What exactly is the argument? That aids does not exist, That hiv does not cause aids? im confused. Someone explain please?

You can read up on it here. Basically there are just denialists that see alot of missing pieces in the way that HIV causes AIDS, and that it isn't an exact science that doctors are getting wrong. I don't really agree with any of this, but i still want to see the documentary.

interesting. my uncle was just diagnosed with hiv, what im getting from this trailer is that theyre trying to say that hiv is a whole range of different possible diseases?

that sounds dumb but interesting i guess. all its gonna come down to at the end of the movie is them saying AIDS can mean anything that damages your immune system - the common cold. which there is also no cure for. so really anything we dont have a cure for doesnt exist?

I don't think they are trying to say AIDS doesn't exist I think they are saying HIV doesn't.

Right. One of the main things that they will talk about is the fact that in the US, most people with AIDS don't die from the disease itself, but they die from the liver failure associated with treatment.

While they deny the existence of HIV, you can also see that they are upset with the fact that people will only die of "AIDS related diseases", and not AIDS itself.

well they said the HIV virus has never really been isolated and identified, so therefore how can you treat it? something exists that is harmful, but basically they have no idea what it is. so we should send a lot of money to other countries because we don't know what the fuck to do about it.

i've heard about this before. they're saying that they haven't actually localized the HIV. they have a general idea about HIV and how to treat it and slow down its progression tremendously. remember that HIV is what does the damage and AIDS is the state you're at after HIV leaves your immune system helpless against the simplest diseases/infections. the reason that we cannot find a cure for HIV is because it could be something completely different than what we think. i don't know what that is, and im sure the movie goes into detail about a bunch of other things related to AIDS and HIV testing... should be interesting.
