Skiing used to be a pure sport filled with adrenaline and excitement. With all of the new technologies and equipment skiiing is no longer the same, it is too easy and not how it was meant to be. Skiing of the future is only going to get worse and the skiing of now is nothing compared to what it used to be.

troll or not,

pow skis don't really make it that much easier. they give you float so you can maintain a more forward stance, but it still takes an incredible amount of athletic ability to charge a gnarly BC line, or drop a double stager, or rip a pillow garden. fat skis just make it more fun and less painful on shins/toes/muscles.

okay, so yesterday i had some of the most fun i've ever had skiing. the weather was perfect and the snow was brilliant. i was using my new blends, but from what you're saying i would have had more fun using a pair of shitty 80s style skis? i highly doubt it. my skis make things easier and give me more confidence, therefore i have more fun. as for skiing not being 'real' anymore, i'm pretty sure it's as real as it ever has been.
i may be be new to ns, but i'm not new to skiing, and i think in my short few months here i have made myself a lot more welcome than you have by making this thread. fair enough, everyone is entitled to their opinions, but at least back up your argument with solid evidence, and don't be such a prick about it. plus maybe learn to spell while you're at it?

If you're not having fun eating or at least enjoying it, you're doing it wrong. Even poor people enjoy what little they can eat. Either that or you're bellemic. If it's the latter, seek medical and psychological help.

when you make a career out of a sport, or any other line of work from which you would make a long term living out of, it is assumed that you like it enough that it continues to be fun to come to work and earn bank. If you're not, you've chosen the wrong career. Sure it's fine to be serious now and then or in, but if you lose that overall fun factor to it, get out of it. Immediately. A real and serious job shouldn't feel arduous or droning.

I wans't really super into skiing "back in the day"  so I can't really judge. But I think skiing culture these days is amazing, and all the new developments have just made it a lot easier to have a hella good time for those who really want to!

skiing will always be the funnest, best thing to do ever no matter what equipment there is or what new tricks are happening. the true joy of skiing is being out in the mountains with your friends having pure fun. thats all it is. pure fun.  and you sir must have missed something in your childhood if you cant do that with all the progression
