OP, I think you MAY have some valid point there, but choose your thread title wisely next time.
If you only look at the sport aspect of it the Olympics may bore you; obviously if you're sitting in front of the T.V. its just the same as any other competition and may even be a bit boring because you don't know the sport. But get out there and go watch it in a crowd with big screens and everything changes, national pride is something a bit different than just liking the sport or the athlete competing.
I just came back from Deadau5 yesterday, and it was nuts. Everyone (like 9,000+) waited atleast
4 hours, and some of us were waiting there since noon. It was basically an under 30 crowd, with every kind of person you can imagine; guidos straight out of Jersey Shore, Goths, emos, LB's, LG's, etc. but when skeleton came up on the big screens, everyone was super into it and were screaming their heads off for Canada. It went fucking crazy when we won gold. It's really awesome to see totally random people come together to celebrate and cheer on Canada.
So I guess what I'm trying to get at here is get off your couch and go enjoy the Olympic atmosphere. Sure it may not have been the best Olympics sport wise seeing we have horrible weather, but it is by far the biggest and coolest party Vancouver/Whistler has had.
