So I went to a bootfitter tonight, and they fitted me in some shoguns, i just was wondering if there are any other boots that fit similarly, since this shop only sold solly park boots.
Thanks a ton

Dalbello Kryptons are narrow too. Full Tilts are narrower and tighter all around.

Salomon Ghost (same lower shell fit), Dalbello Kryptons, Full Tilts, Lange Banshees, Atomic Nukes, Rossignol SAS Pro 120... that should be a good list to get started with. All will have a similar 98mm forefoot width like the Shogun.

wrongg, the spk pro kaos and kreation all have a 105-106 last something in that range, and they are much softer as well. The shogun is the mold from the salomon x3 race series boot, with a 98mm last, and the ghost is from the falcon mold also 98mm last

The shogun shell is actually 100 mm, unless that difference in width is accounted for by a thinner liner?

Really? thought it was 98 like the Ghost.
Well Falcon CS Pros are similar to Ghosts, but ligher, with a partially moldable shell, and more buckles to actually keep your feet down well, so I'd assume that that Impact CS Pro(I think, 100mm version of falcon pretty much) would be the better version of the shogun. Two-buckle system is a sales pitch and makes the boots perform way worse(and doesn't save weight). Falcons/Impacts are great if they fit you right(You HAVE to get a good footbed though, or shinbang is almost always going to be there).

the shogun is a 98mm last, the ghost boot is from the falcon mold without the cs shell (kaprolene shell) the impact series is a 100mm last, but not like the shogun at all, completely different.

kaprolene material, used in prosthetics, a special type of rubber which is moldable, which is seen on the outer part of the toebox and inner part of the toe box of the impact 10 series boot. Not on the ovulus(sp?) bone where many ppl have an issue with boots.

Ghost, Shogun, non-plug X3, & Falcon all come out of the same lower shell mold which uses their new race stance (less of a ramp angle under foot and less forward lean). The Ghost and X3 have a different upper cuff design, particularly in the rear spine, which makes them a lot stiffer (in addition to using higher durometer plastics). Currently, Salomon does not put the Kaprolene inserts into the Ghost or Shogun. For 2011, however, the Ghost gets the CS Kaprolene inserts but not the Shogun. It will remain exactly the same.

Cool, that's what I thought. My 09 Falcon CS Pros are the same as this years, other than the fatter power strap now right? Also, if the Falcon shell is the only boot I found that fits me(I tried tons), then next years touring(or partial walk mode or whatever) boot will fit me the exact same, right? That would be sick, since when I go touring I always want that backwards movement.

you could probably could get them for like $350 if they have your size at EVO, cause at REI they have them for like $370 and you could price match them at EVO so they would be like $350. You still would be saving like $150. idk i think that is a pretty good deal if they have your size.

Your 09 Falcons will fit the same (heel, forefoot, instep, etc) as this years, but this years have that more upright stance that I mentioned.
The Quest series of boots is a different fit than the X3/Falcon series. Salomon claims it has a 101mm forefoot width but I think it's a bit narrower. To me, it even felt a bit snugger than the Impact (100mm) but it could have been because of the thicker Biovent liner or because it was an early production boot.
I'll be doing a lot of boot testing for some of the magazines next week so I'll have more time to take it apart and check it out.
