Mt Ashland

I'm going to be in medford in about 2 or 3 weeks, and I might go skiing at ashland with a buddy.

I've known about this place for a while, but how is it actually? Is the snow good this year? I know tahoe's been pounded, but no clue about oregon.

do they have an okay park? not that it matters a whole lot, but that would be cool if they had some nice features to fuck around on if there isnt much pow.

I hear it's steep in some places, but give me some true insight on this place and why it's 'rad' or why it 'sucks'



Also, I got accepted to SOU, so i'm checking that place out again while i'm up there. what should i check out while i'm there folks? I already know about the theatre stuff because i was a theatre tech in high school and we went to the shakespeare fest, but besides all that, what should i go see?

going by word of mouth only here but i think the bowl is pretty sick with a crap ton of cliff drops, pretty steep as well. my brother lives in medford and skis there a few times per week and he always brags about how much better the terrain is than bachelor. im skeptical of this but i hvaent skied there in about 13 years. apparently the bowl also does quite well for snow because it all blows in there so you might get some powpow if your lucky. i dont think there is to much of a park scene, but again, dont quote me on that

knowing batchlor, it's not the gnarliest place... Great snow, sure... but It's called "Mt. Flatchler" from time to time for a reason. Basically Oregon's northstar@tahoe.

Ashland seems pretty chill though I'm excited to check it out. They seem to have great snow this year.

some parts of bachy are lame, some parts are rad if you know where to go, same as with any mountain. stay on the runs/frontside and its gonna be boring. bs/bowl/far east/trees of nw all have pretty good stuff.

if you see a guy on 333's give him a shout....hes got breaking his falls with his neck mastered in the bowl at ashland

if you know were you goin at bachelor it gets pretty sick. thats a horrible name for bachelor. ever been to timberline? the timberline flats? flattest resort ever. probably could be compared to something on the east coast.

Haha, hey man. I'm not hating THAT bad, cmon... I'm just somebody who skis squaw on a regular basis so I'm usually looking for some serious gnar. Hopefully the bowl at ashland's enough to keep me interested for sure.

Definitely not the longest, but I could only imagine hucking off that stuff on a powder day into some deepity deep.

The bowl that's in that photo is some of the steepest lift-serviced skiing in Oregon. It's small and short, but there are definitely several hairy lines to be found.

The park is nothing to shout about- a few jumps, a few rails.

Overall it's a fun mountain, but very small. Some good freshies in the trees and it doesn't get tracked quickly.

This is my first winter here in Oregon and nothing in this state compares to the difficulty and steepness of the east coast. The riding in oregon is a breeze - you are all so spoiled!!!

And yes. I'm interested in trying out this bowl for SURE. Pretty much looks to be a cornice huckfest...

Mt. Ashland is great. The vibes there are sick and the people that ride it all the time are really friendly. Poke around the back side of the mountain (skiers left out of the gate to the bowl) there are so fun wide open glades to ski. The bowl is really fun when the bottom isn't full of slabs or cornice. Ask around about the line "No fat chicks allowed" it's in the bowl.

yea its my home mt. super sweet on a pow day. tons of great drops to hit, and lines to be had. i wouldnt want to be anywhere else on a pow day. the park is improving slowly but surely, and is starting to get legit. if anyone has any questions, feel free to pm me



ps no fat chicks is the gnarliest line i have ever skied

So, I'm going to SOU this fall for a 2nd degree. Got my place in Ashland. Moving up full time in a few weeks. Shit's official.

If anyone wants to carpool to shasta and mt ash/make trips to batchlor once in a while/head up to hood/down to tahoe every so often, let me know. I'll be doing all of the above.

I'm awaiting a job offer in klamath falls. shitty town but crater lake is only an hour away. I would probably end up going to shasta, ashland, and touring crater lake

I have skied ashland and its a super chill town but the locals can be assholes and especially ski patrol. The get pissed over pretty small things ( i.e. going to fast ) and at my last contest some of the locals tried to fight us because my buddy accidentally sprayed a kid that was standing in the landing.

Willamette can be a lot of fun on the right days, nice snow, and RTS is steep as fuck.

if there's anyone who knows how to get on ski patrol's good side its me... (hook them up with deals on skis, they will let you slide on anything, nearly... hahaha) so not too worried bout that.

As for the people? They dont seem even remotely as snobby as some of the wacko rich idiots in the Bay Area back home... so I think I'm alright there too.



As for Willamette... how far away is that from the Rogue Valley?
