First Experience riding deep powder.

So i live on the east coast maryland to be exact and we never get snow that stays we usually get 100+ but its 6 inches then it hits 60 degrees the next day or it rains. So basically ive never had the chance to ride deep powder and with this recent string of storms hitting ive had the opportunity to ski some deep stuff and today i got to ski the deepest yet.

I was waist to chest deep at times crusing thru trees and i must say its not easy it took awhile to learn the basics. I was on some ARV's that are about 3 years old and have some nice rocker which definately helped but when i was on my punx it was so hard. But i used to think that it would be easy as shit but now i realize and have mad respect for people that do.

riding a bump in Maryland with powder (i dont know how to make an unequal sign)  real powder on the side of a huge mtn.

Pow in MN pretty much sucks for the same reasons you listed.

Yea riding pow actually requires being a good skier out of the park.

i haven't ventured into the park heavily until the past couple of years, and i'm big mountain at heart. My first experience with really deep stuff was this year (24") of fresh EC pow, i know its not much at all but it was so fun, and one of the most amazing days I have ever skied. I can't wait to head out west.

I am a good skier im not one of those kids who just jumped right into the park i actually took a few years to legitamtely learn to ski on a real ski not a center mounted noodle. Ive never had powder to ski in like this is something completely new to me so i didnt really know how to ski it.

My first experience was opening day at reveltoke. Riding 800 vertical feet of though deep powder changes you.

I totally get you. I am the completely the same as you and on my first pow day (about 12" of fresh pow) I skied full speed onto an untouched pow run from a groomed run on my INVADERS and pulled a face plant double eject straight into the pow ha. Now that Ive actually spent some time skiing powder Ive actually gotten decent at charging lines. Those first couple of times though were not what I expected it to be because I use to snowboard and the transition from park to pow on a board is much easier imo.

To the east coast kids though. I live in Denver and i can guarantee you that you have gotten much better pow days than I have this year. Its been a pretty shitty year out here, I hope to god it gets better because im tired of skiing on shitty snow.

Glad to hear so many kids stoked on skiing their first deep powder. Sounds like fun and I wish I was skiing that much snow right now, but my time will come. Enjoy it!

Also I found that skiing bumps actually helped me step into powder.
