C-Bars in the Olympics

Every pair of crowbars I've seen in the Olympics all have a little oakley 'O' on the strap. Is this an Olympic thing or are all of their new goggles going to have this? It looks pretty gay imo

i remember in 2006 some girl had to put tape over a sponsor logo on her helmet

i think it's because the tv networks dont want to advertise for free, so they wont show the riders if they feel they are giving away free advertisement for a company that they are not affiliated with. so companies get around it by putting very small logos on

thats the way my dad and i think of it at least

It has to do with sponsorship issues.  If you are not sponsored by the company, you get the gimped logo.

This might be true in some instances but Shawn White had a small logo on his A frames and he is obviously sponsered by Oakley. I pretty surel a it has to do with the free advertising deal.

Seems odd that ski and snowboard companies can get whored out by their athletes but oakley would have to shrink they're logo, it's not that noticable anyways

Its to do with olympics.... basically the only brands that are supposed to be allowed to "advertise" are coca cola and mcdonalds....

by doing smaller logos companys get around it.

hense why alot of athletes had tape on there helmets etc.

to be honest it makes a bigger deal when its smaller haha cuz people obviously know the logo but now that its smaller it draws more attention...

I think companies can sponsor entire teams though...for example, there are some pretty noticeable Burton logos on the USA outerwear:

Rules for olympics: No pure sponsorship logos, only logos from the maker of the equipment. For example I guess those jackets are made by burton. And even the logos of the equipment brand can't exceed a certain size, hence oakley has made some special crowbars for their olympics athletes where the logos are in accordance with olympic specs.

If you watch other sports you'll notice the same thing on say, the suits of xc-skiing teams, where there's normally a shitload of sponsor logos, there is nothing, only the brand name/logo of the company who makes the suit.
