Well. He is definitely not talking about shin bang here :) I've a bit similar problem, but it's fibula bang ( basically my other bone hurts and muscles hurts from skiing and landing backseat ).
If it's your calves that hurts it might be an overexagarated muscle. And you might need to take a break because it will basically not heal unless you do so (happened to me one time aswell).
With my "fibula bang" I've been recommended to land switch for a while, you can ice it (as you can do with all kinds pains from skiing) and take some advil if you wanna continue skiing some pow or what ever. Also some people told me that you can tighten the boot strap too much, since it puts alot of pressure on your calves and fibula, considered that it's different case with shin bang .
