Marker Bindings... Why?

Marker probably has the best reputation on NS, and I'm not bashing on them, but what makes their bindings stand out so much from other bindings? I have rossi bindings and they hold up just fine, maybe I need to be enligtened...

I have found that Marker is the most disliked bindng on NS. I like Marker because I have always used them and never had a problem.

Royal Series (Griffon, Jester, Duke, Barron) = GOOD
All other Markers = BAD
Their new one remains to be seen on how good it will be...

I hate every M series binding and the jester/griffon.  Dukes are a little better than Jesters(yes, there are some minor changes other than touring ability), but the only reason I have those at all is that they are the most durable touring binding for inbouds skiing abuse(and they still break fairly often with hard skiers, just not as much as freerides or naxos..).  I can't wait till Solly's touring binding, which apparently ISN'T coming out next year, fucking damnit.

the only good marker bindings are dukes, comp 18/20/30. everything else is just garbage and should never be purchased

everyone hates marker....

the only good markers are jesters and dukes, griffons and barons are plasticy trash, and anything with a biometric toe is a deathtrap

they just came out with a park oriented binding....we'll see how that turns out.

marker uses alot of pastic. in my opinion, FKS are sooo much better. well, i also think my rossi 120s are quite nice. alot of people have had trouble with them and the brakes. mine have took a beating and are still in great condition

the only good marker bindings are the comp 20's and 30's, if you can find an 18 those are good too. Everything else is somewhere on the shit spectrum.

Jesters and Dukes included.

I completely agree with most of what has been said. The Royal Family series is arguably one of the most refutable series of bindings on the market. Despite what others will say, under their intended use, they are excellent and quite durable. In other words, don't expect Jester durability if you get Jesters and don't expect Griffons to be good bindings for you if you are Type III+, 6' 4", and 200 lbs.

Uhh...what?  I'm not even sure if you're for or against markers from this post.

BTW, somebody at my mountain was on his second pair of Dukes(first got warrantied cause the toe height adjustment ended up loose every day), and he stomped a cliff that wasn't massive and ended up in an instant tele type mode(which from the design makes little sense, maby he ripped the whole heal plate off?) which ripped the whole binding off the ski from the toe side.  Durability, yeahhh marker, great job!!

My comp 1400s are super solid. When I click in, I feel attached and one with my ski. My mojo15s feel slightly sloppier than the markers

i used their bindings when i raced and they were pretty good...but the royal series have had alot of trouble: breaking, cheap plastic and the toe piece of that binding is pretty screwed up. So much problems with breaking, let alone that the interface is nearly unbearable with dalbellos and fulltilts ZOMG!

the 16 and under have the bull shit bio matrix toe thingy or whatever it is called. That is the major draw back to the traditional marker binding, it is what caused all those pre-releases.

if my opinion and what i have noticed through use means anything here you go. I have the griffons on one of my skis. i only weight 135 pounds so really a binding higher than a twelve din would just add weight to my setup. I personally love how they ski, but whoever said that about using a lot of plastic was right. on the back insides of my heel piece it is pretty cut up.

I love look/rossi/dynastar bindings though too and have two pairs of them on some of my other skis.

The Dalbello/FT issue has been fixed for this season. I have Jesters and Il Moros, no problems with the interface.

I have both Jesters and FKSs and I have to say that the toe release in Jesters is by far the best in the biz and turntable heels on fks's are def also the best in the game.

I really like the feel of my jesters though, edge to edge they preform really well

i have marker m14 free bindings, they have a bad reputation and all you want, but still they work better then my look PX 14s or nx12s

i'm sure my next binding will be a duke because its a great binding + im ambitioning some skinning in the years to come ! :)

imho marker makes great bindings...

the new style of px and axial is garbage compared to the one from 4-5 years ago.  theres no way an m series holds a candle to any fks or pivot

i have marker griffons, they hold up jus fine and i put a beating on them, like everybody else.....they hold up fine, the only problem i have is clickin in sometimes cause they get snow under the toe of the binding.

i donno, i've been skiing griffons this season and i have had no problems.

they get me from point a to point b, they havent broken, they have really only ejected me when my tips get caught on a little tree sticking up and my ankle twists or something.

bindings arent a huge deal for me. as long as mine arent broken, and no one complains that they're unsafe and dont eject, im fine.

Ive had griffons for two seasons now. They feel great, i don't know whats soo bad with them.  They feel safe and always keep me locked in. I certainly wouldn't change to any other binding at the moment. 
 Although my friend had a pair and he span 2 of a rail landed clean but his heel piece just snapped straight off!     Its real strange I expected the durability to be pretty poor since there is a lot of plastic but i really like them. Ive given them a pretty hard beating and there still fine just chipped plastic.

I hate the royal family series toes.  I've never had a binding that is so hard to get your toe into after hiking than Dukes are.  A tiny little piece of snow hiding in the binding or on you boot makes it so only one side of your toe is in and if you don't check you could end up skiing like that..  Plus, I don't think they release ENOUGH, I actually think they are more risk than some other bindings toes.  So the old Markers toes came off way too much, and these I think are a bit dangerous.

I agree with people saying older Looks are better than new, and I think older Sollys are better than the ones out now.  I still like Tyrolia Peak 18s(then 15s) best on the market, they feel so safe and give so much control..

here is an idea i just got (i have no idea if it would work) but what if you mounted a pair of skis with the FKS turntable heel, and jester toe piece, since you said they are both the best?

yeah getting the griffons on if there is any snow in the toe is a pain. i almost had to pee on it one time to melt the built up ice. ha ha ha ha.

Have two sets of marker jester 2009-2010 . One on the walls 2009-2010 and one on the gotama 2004.
Used them for this season and never had problems with them not with jumping , grinding or pow skiing .
Knowing that I wheigh 96kg=211.2pounds and never pre released, broke down or somthing like that . Gives me the impresion that they are leggit and not scrap material or plastic like you guy's say.

Also in austria /planai fun park there where 70% jester or griffon  bindings never heard or see one brake down or pre releasing .

I had a pair of dukes that I was so stoked about, they looked sweet and made a sweet clunk sound whenever I stepped into them. As far as a touring binding you cant do much better, but I prereleased all the time in them. Upgraded to some PX15's havent popped out once this year. Just my 2 cents
