curling's legit, i think its pretty fun to watch, i tried it up at the olympic center in colorado springs once and its a lot harder than it looks.

to the rest of the world, curling is more famous than shuffleboard, unless youre on a cruise ship


and i think its a legit sport. takes pretty much everything a sport has to take. eye-hand-coordination, concentration and it also has a minor physical aspect.

it looks kinda boring, but i bet i would be hella funny to do it with some friends or so who have never played it

when they "follow" it, they are either mopping the ice or waiting if mopping the ice is necessary. mopping it will make the stones to get longer and you can control them a little if something wasnt perfect or so. a stone that gets longer makes less direction, so you can control thist aspect as well.

and if there is nothing to change because the stone was shot perfectly, they will just "follow".

i dont get it. there is this sport: non-violent, more based on strategy/flair and women are equally participating, and the first thing you hear from a woman is that its boring.

please, for once and for all, pick your side!








no serious, if its boring, than stop watching it, its as easy as that

Curling is my second favorite Olympic event, next to hockey, and I watch it whenever I can.  It's really not  that hard to understand, all you have to do is wkipedia it and boom you've got it.  There is so much strategy that is involved in it

I watched it last year, I was doing nothing cause I got nailed in the eye by a snowball in a snowball fight and figured why not. It was rather entertaining, then some cool show about cops busting some drug guys in texas.

Sadly it seems that curling is getting way more play than real sports. I must admit however that i have found it somewhat enjoyable to watch. Mostly because for the life of me i can't really grasp the scoring? I do think that it would be much better if there was drinking involved...perhaps for every stone in the 8 foot circle the other team has to chug a beer???? just a thought for the next olympics

I was under the impression that they used the friction created to heat up the ice and slow down the stone and control it. Idk someone should ask a pro.

You got part of it...
When they scrub in front of the stone the friction melts the ice slightly and allows the rock to slide faster. To allow the stone to slow they don't scrub, pretty simple. To get it to slide in one direction or the other they scrub to the side of the stone etc...

CLAIM: i was at the round robin women's curling on friday night. seeing it live gave me a whole new appreciation for the sport. some of the shots they make are absolutely mind blowing. plus canada beat denmark in overtime so the place was absolutely rocking.

and the danish chicks are not hot in person. the 19 year old british skip is a different story.

the danish arent that hot on TV imo. not ugly or so, but no persons i would mention as 8/9 or 10 out of 10.

but the russian team seemed kinda nice. very young too. sweden and germany were bitter dissappointments
