Mountains in NY/VT

well my brother goes to west point and he doesnt get out much to go skiing so i was gonna pick him up and go skiing somewhere within 2-3 hours of there. i guess we're looking for a good mountain in NY/VT/NH within 3 hours tops of west point. let me know if there is anything out there in that distance...thanks

im sorry for being ignant, and having no idea of the true geographical relevance of these suggestions.

but big boulder is a mountain in PA, and its by far the best mountain on the east coast. i would try to take a trip there if i were you. the park rivals some of the shit out west, and the people there are the nicest, most fun loving kids on the planet. other places would be MT. snow in VT, okemo in VT. i dunno how close you are to jersey, but mountain creek can be fun.

in my expirience, there is nothing worth visiting in NY.

i live in jersey...very familiar with boulder. no where near the best mountain on the east coast. but umm yeah. i think windham is our best bet as far as mountains close to his school goes. thanks for the help though

if you're going to VT, go to killington. good park, and they actually have terrain. unlike 90% of east coast resorts.

Just go to Hickory Ski Center, if they are open that is.

About 2 hours north on I87 from west point.

Thats actually a pretty good suggestion... hickory hill has some gnarly terrain and you want see any crowds... no park though.



Where are you from... you must be local to know about hickory hill

Nope just a lurker of all things skiing related on the intertubes. I drive right by glens falls on my way up to vermont, so when I saw a thread on tgr about hickory I took interest. I've never been there :(

Its a small mountain but they have real nice terrain, I dont think they are open now. The only time I would even bother going is on a pow day.

if i can remember right (my brother went to west point) even places like mt snow are almost 4 hours away.. i would say that would probably be your best bet though
