What is THE ski to have this season? And whats the thing that makes skis worth so much more than others?

EVERYONE should have hellbents. Buy them for your girlfriend, your mom, you, your baby, anyone. They kill it everything from carving groomers to stomping double corks. Also, I hear K2 put in new technology making this ski perfect for any height, weight, and skiing type. RADICAL.

It really depends. For every person that loves a certain ski, there will be several others who hate it.

But I think the ski that has DEFINED this season (not necessarily the best ski) has to be the Afterbang. It's the most radical construction change skiing has gone through since the foam-wood core migration. And actually, it's a pretty good ski. In the future, when I'm a bit older, a bit balder, etc, and people ask me about the 09/10 season, the A-Bang is what we'll talk about.

my family has some of those, they're a great alternative to snowshoes, super fun

Actually I changed my mind. Oakley Osama Pros are revolutionary. New sand core is hyphy as fuck.

but really, this is a completly subjective topic.  Some people like super flexy elizabeths or hellbents, some people like 2X4s.  There's so many other factors like sidecut, camber, width, length, even graphics that play in, we could never name one best ski.

I skied these fr 3 years exact same size till i grew out of them. Absolutely my favorite, so durable only complaint is a little heavy. I loved the design
