Replying to Help me pick a bicycle

Alright well I've decided I'm sick of always driving my car everywhere and I need to strengthen my knee so I want a bike. I'm thinking of a road bike but am open to other options. I've never really had a bike other than the one I learned on so I"m pretty clueless. I'm about 6feet and 150lbs so I guess I need help with sizing. I'm willing to spend a decent amount of money on a good bike. I don't think I'm cool enough for a fixie but I'd consider a single speed. So bike owners of NS help me out.
