Why are the jumps so small? How are you supposed to do anything cool.

jumps aren't that small. girls killed it last night, but the dudes go so much bigger. its also retarded steep, TV doesn't do it any justice

dunno if any UK nsers are watching the moguls coverage (online stream) on the BBC?  the commentary on the jumps is great. . .

"he went clockwise on that 360"
"reaches down and embellishes that jump with a grab"
etc.

I'm watching in Canada on sports net... and the announcer doesn't say the trick when guys throw down cork 7's,, its hillarious.. she'll saying something like 'double twisting back flip' hahaha

is this an attempt to rub things in? personally, i dont care where people are from, mogul skiers from quebec are a lot further than the skiers from lake tahoe, so im supposed to preffer the further one because she's canadian? no, i just want to see some athletes throw down their best run, do well, and whoever wins, wins.... i dont get the competitiveness in the olympics between countries... i think the mogul skier girls understood that, they all hugged each other for their performances

no not at all, just curious on what the general perception of canadians towards DBS were. in Oz for a while he was portrayed as being outcast by his former country, curious as to whether or not this was tru or just another case of the media looking for a bit of drama to boost their ratings..

The mogul jumps are smaller because it adds an other level of difficulty to the jumps. i know this for a fact

but ya, its true. in moguls you have to actually learn to pop on tricks, something many many park skiers can't do

Dr. NS, I know you're supposed to be healing and treating this site, but your militant approach to defending mogul skiing is becoming a blight. Ok, that was extreme. We do all know it seems the "park rats" don't respect the true aspects of skiing. As such, I think you may be spinning you wheels calling them out. Mogul skiing is a part of skiing. The more parts of skiing you do well, the better skier you are. Fact of life: FIS and their judging will always be years behind the progression of our newschool movement. But hey, they are different disciplines. You gotta give respect where repect is due, we're all skiers. This applies to pretty much all Olympic mogul threads, haha.

oh believe me, ive noticed myself

i can't help but get carried away

ive been out from my sport (mogul skiing, and skiing in general) since dec. 30th with a messed up shoulder ( really messed up) and as such am pretty ornery when people start to bash the sport i guess

thanks for a well thought out and not asswhole-ish comment though

I figured you were well aware of it.  I can understand the frustration of being outnumbered and in a corner trying to defend what mogul skiing is.  Also, I'm glad you didn't take it as flaming, I was worried the "blight" comment was a bit harsh.  Hope the shoulder heals up so you can get back out there and out of the forums! JK
