can someone explain how mogul scoring works? the young canadian was ripping, did a "off axix" 7 and a back flip. everyone else is doing 3's and backflips.

Yeah, but unfortunately thanks to the way scoring and judging is going, most of the guys are doing the same fucking backflip iron cross that the girls do, even though they are capable of so much more.

A 7 has a higher degree of difficulty than a 3 X, but if you can't do it perfect then you'll get a better score with an easier jump done perfectly.

Did anyone bother listening to WHY he left Canada?

He was on the Provincial team and had a small internet company started up, the coaches were unhappy with him spending so much time on it and gave him an ultimatum, your business or the ski team.

So he moved to Australia with dual-citizenship and continued his business (he's now a multi-millionaire) and they let train, ski and run his business, and here he is at the Olympics, a millionaire to boot.

I'd blame the coaches and system before I'd blame Dale.. anyone ever wonder why so many of our mogul skiers end up quitting and doing solely freestyle comps, then blowing up huge? They can be very inflexible with your other interests...

Dale is just a quiet guy who is not there for the publicity he is just there to achieve his own goals and not anyone else. When he moved he chose Australia because he want to be coached by Steve Desovich.
