Is Shawn White really this important?

During the Olympic opening ceremony the commentators talked about Shawn White when the U.S. team was entering the arena. They kept on talking about him with the camera on him straight over Uzbekistan's entrance. Uzbekistan got zero recognition. If I was Uzbekistan I would be fucking pissed.

no because skiing is not nearly as extreme or hardcore as snowboarding. in this weeks rolling stone there's an article about Shaun White and the Dub Cork that nearly made me vomit

Sure hes the best in snowboarding, but hes still an inbred little tool. I honestly think he might be the antichrist in disquise come to wreck humanity with his "double cork madness".

I also find it funny how, between snowboarders and skiers, about 1/8th of snowboarders can successfully land a run. Skiers on the otherhand, almost always land a run of equal or higher difficulty.

Shaun White is a fucking douche. i saw a interview on 60 minutes, he said; "it does not feel natural to me to be friends with my competitors. i just cant picture myself be beaten by a other person and still be friends with him." he is just a huge fucking poser, trying to be best at everything (he is not doing so bad at that one as you can tell). yes, he may be the one pushing the sport of snowboarding hardest, but his attitude is shit.

Don't they do drug tests for this stuff. That's not looking too good for skiing halfpipe. You may think I'm referencing a certain skier that happens to be rather good in the pipe, but I can assure you I mean to target no one.
