I've been to jackson a few times, and the first thing that comes to mind is Corbet's Couloir. hahah.
The hobacks, (if there's snow) and I've always had a good time with tower three chute or paint brush. (below the thunder chair.) I've never done back country at jackson though, i bet thats where it's the best.
i was joking, i haven't had the balls to hit it haha. I can't remember exactly but i think it's like a 40 foot drop onto a 45 degree slope. that thing will eat you alive if you don't know what you're doing.
It really depends on the snowpack. I've never seen it anywhere near 40 feet, but in lower snow it's probably 15-20' to kind of a weird landing. On big snow years you can just straightline into it, and the runout is super mellow.
Not anywhere near 40' at least from what I have seen. The Usually it goes from minimal air in to a max of 15-20' depending on where you hit it and once your in its hardly steep, like almost not steep enough.
But ya, I wish I knew some better local secrets. Hobacks are sick but that goes to the bottom, my advice is get first tram and stay on the mountain (lap the quads on the mountain rather than go to the bottom) you will get way more skiing in that way. Unless its not very busy...
A continental snowpack and pillows don't really go hand in hand. I suppose there's a few spots you can bounce through boulder fields, but you'll need to go further west for pillow lines.
corbets isent what its cracked up to be...skied it when I was 17 and had minimal big mtn experience not too exposed and typically has a "goatpatth" into the chute which makes it much easier if you dont take a mean line into it...check out the the booter off the gondola if its deep
tensleep bowl has a good amount of powder, just keep on traversing and u will get some, also if u dont mind hiking, hike up the path on headwall and ski casper its pretty sick
got a back country guide today and we hiked up to no name peak. the snow was so amazingly fresh it was sick. The hike had me sweating like crazy but it was so worth it.
