For 2010, Chronic Crypt's or Afterbang?

Im kinda stuck between which one i should get for next years season. im still progressing mostly hitting medium features and im about a 50/50 skier and i love groomers. i had the chronics this year and they were awesome just not very durable, suggestions?

although I've never used either of the skis, I can't imagine the durability of the chronic cryp would be much better than the normal chronic, since the cryp is just a wider version (right?) as far as afterbang vs. chronic cryp, they're 2 very different skis, so it depends on what you want to use them for. the afterbang was designed as more of a park/jib ski, and the chronic more of a ski that could shred both the mountain and the park... so if you're skiing 50/50, I'd say go with the chronic cryp based on what I've heard

neither. antidogma, township. or masterminds.

if you want a jump ski, i say cryps. for a mix, i'd say afterbangs.

both are really heavy. just a warning.

Soft buttery ski - Afterbang
Stiff All-Mountain/Jump ski - Cryptonite

Basically, if you want to be able to butter and play around on the mountain that is amazing on rails, and decent on jumps get the Afterbang, if you want a ski that goes everywhere, is stiffer, and kills the jumps and is pretty fun on rails too, get the Cryptonites.

Never used either but my friends swears by the chronics by his life.......and hes been skiing quite awhile like 14 years, but thats just his opinion

well you want an all mountain ski and your choices are either an all mountain ski (chronics) or a park specific ski (afterbang)...idunno what to tell ya

I was about to say anthems but... yea none next year. But pick up this years and your chairlift eyecandy will be japanese snowboarders. Legit ski but the graphics no so legit.

what you dont think 2 kg's per ski is heavy? i sure do. thats more than my chronics, and they're heavy. if you're gunna drop the bank on skis, might as well make the best investment possible.

but as far as this thread goes i've heard afterbangs are heavy. my punx are separating the edge under midsole so i'm pissed about that. but yeah. i love em but i'm getting tired of buying skis every half season. my p.e.'s were the same way. and my fujis.

I think you will be good with either.  The cryptonite is not nearly as stiff as the chronic, not even close.  It is basically a completely different ski.  I would compare the flex to the AR6.  The afterbangs are a sick ski.  I have seen and heard great things from people.  The flex is prime for jibbing, but still has some stiffness to it to hold its own.  Much better all mountain than invaders were.

Now on topic.

Alternatly id really consider looking at the step-ups. They are new for next year and i think would be perfect for you. It is a wider AND stiffer version of the afterbangs. Its symmetrical and has "skate deck" construction ,just like the a-bangs,unlike the a-bang  however, the step-up has that stiffer and wider profile which is going to add much more stability on those big jumps and groomers as well as allow you to take them into a bit of pow and tree's.

Overall i think this would be a perfect choice considering your needs, Im also predicting its going to be in between the cryps and a-bangs in terms of price.

Chronic Cryps are hands down awesome. They are just a really fun and versatile ski. They are great on jumps and they handle rails real nice too. Although they are stiffer then say the afterbang, or other noodley skis they are not super stiff. I was surprised by how soft they are. I've also had really good experiences with the cryps from an all-mtn. standpoint. They are just great in general and I have not had any problems with durability to speak of besides just topsheet chipping, normal stuff. On top of performance, if you are getting the 09-10 model, you just can't beat that filthy graphic.
