On an epic pow day, some of us like to scream and show our appreciation to Ullar. Others like to hoot and hollar to get yer boys to check out your sick line. This thread is dedicated to those of you who pull from way back in the 80s to let out that half hearted, kind of gay, but always the staple of a pow day call: The Woo!
For whatever reason it is often found on the mellower powder slopes; either because of the abundance of 50 year old skiers found their or maybe it is just used as a drastic measure to make that 25 degree pow field seem that much more epic.
Some times people go for the 2nd cousin of The Woo!, known as The Yoo!. Often they are used to call back and forth between skiers of a flock in a sort of "'marco'-'polo'" type song. Regardless, it has always and will always get those heads on the chair lift rubbernecking in your direction to scope the sweet stash you've just discovered. Despite of how much of a nancy it makes us all sound like, The Woo! is alive and strong. At a recent Epic Pow Day at my local hill I was able to count 23 Woos! between chair lift towers. That my friends is a true sign of a good day.
If you don't know what I am talking about I have attached a clip I found here. I encourage anyone to add to the list of Woo! videos with clips they shot or have found so that we can all revel in the musical masterpieces that those days of cold smoke provide for our ears.
