this is also a very large benefit of wearing one. it saves your teeth and your brain.
i wear mine mainly to prevent concussions.

Hot water mold-able ones are like $10 at Sports Authority. But you have to wear them for them to be effective.
Last Jan I bit my tongue almost in half landing hard off a 25' foot cliff: mouthgaurd in pocket. I still have a slit in my tongue from it over a year ago.

definitely going to get me one, just chipped 5 teeth a few weekends back on a drop, same sort of deal with my knee to my chin. 3 of my teeth were half missing so it kind of sucked.

fine maybe ill wear mine more. i pretty much only use it on bigger park jumps, cliffs/big mtn and moguls anyway. i chipped a molar last year in a mogul training run. forgot just once. my parents wanted me to wear my guard every time i started going downhill. when i told them they were retarded (not literally) they threatened to end my season

last year i came short flipping and bit my whole lower lip off my mouth, it was literaly hanging off my mouth. haha id go nuts wearing a mouth guard though

yeah they do, if boxers didn't wear mouth guards they would be knocked out in the first round every time. When your jaw gets nailed into your upper teeth without a mouth guard it makes a whiplash sort of effect and you get a concussion.

Mouthguards do a ton to prevent concussions. thats the main reason why people wear them in football, as well as protecting their teeth.

a concussion is a head injury ,a mouthguard (gumshield) would do nothing to prevent a concussion blow.A mouthguard can only reduce the impact to teeth by distributing the impact waves across the surface area of the mouthguard and helping lock the teeth inline to let all the teeth take the impact instead of a single or couple of teeth.

I play as a goalkeeper for my university team and ive been concussed with a blow to the face with a football at point blank range.
