Line Afterbang help please!!

I just bought a pair of Afterbangs, and I'm not really sure what to do when mounting them to make sure the wood doesn't split. I've heard a few things regarding wood glue, but I want to make sure they're done right. Can anyone help me out?

p.s.- I have the access to the proper mounting bit and the jig to do so.

just mount them like you would any other ski

If you don't know EXACTLY what you're doing, DON'T DO IT. It's worth it to pay for a professional to do it.

put the jig on the ski, drill, glue with waterproof glue, screw in the binding (dont strip screws, if you do heli coil), adjust forward pressure, set dins make sure brakes clear.

perfect. I've mounted tons of skis but never anything like this. I wanted to make sure before i jumped in there. thanks a bunch!

It's just wood, drill and screw.  It's not any different than any other ski, it just doesn't have sidewalls because apparently sidewalls aren't important.

Thats what woulda made sense to me at the start, but then my friend brought up a solid point. That leaves where the screw goes in completery exposed to allow water in... And i guess there's been cases where the wood has split.

My local shop guy is a tool so he told me to find ou and he'll do it. I guess that wway he's liable hey?

your name is noobsauce, and you are asking about how to mount bindings. GO TO A FUCKING STORE, AND HAVE AN EXPERIENCED TECH MOUNT YOUR BINDINGS.

Everyone who posted in this thread giving directions on how to do it is both a dumbass and an asshole- this guy will do it wrong, and you will have knowingly led him to it.

IF YOU HAD TO ASK, TAKE THEM TO A SHOP. It's that simple.

Like every other ski, that's why you use wood glue to water proof it.

Or you could stop being a tool and read that he has mounted skis before, he was wondering if A-Bangs were different than other skis because of their unique construction. calm down

Sorry if I came off as an arse. It seemed, judging by the original post, that he was one of the many people who buy skis and bindings on the internet and are too damn cheap to get a shop to do it. So they ask Dr. NS how to do it, and try to freehand the holes because they don't own any jigs.

Still, giving out information on how to mount bindings on NS is a bad idea.

clearly you've never mounted skis. ha if you have jigs and what not its mindless. and im still sticking by my sound directions. adjusting them your self is dumb if you dont know what you're doing but all the bindings you purchase comes with directions and diagrams on how to adjust forward pressure yourself. so if you got a jig and u got the directions and you know what your din is then why not?

I guess I just wouldn't trust myself to mount my own bindings...
But really, handing out any tech advice over the internet is not a good idea, because if the guy does it wrong and ends up with a broken leg, the american legal system could put YOU at fault. Which isn't where you want to be...

And no, I haven't ever mounted bindings.

yeah i see what you're getting at, from my first set of skis till now there was only 1 set i didnt mt my self and that was the only set that pulled out. maybe there's somthing to be said there. i think if you did it a bit you'd never let anyone else do it. anywho yeah i agree about the advice but there was no specifics mentioned about what binding hight weight sole length age din settings so i cant believe theres really anything to go on about fault. but anyway if you ever want to know how to do it and are in CO i'll give you a lesson on mounting or at least what to look for. like if your screws are stripped when u get them back or especially re mounts i've seen soooo many skis ruined because of some retards working at a shop if anything advice could be a good thing. ohhh well +k. have a nice night amigo.
