Candide 2nd Place FWT Stop #2

Howdy. I just saw Candide's run for the second stop of the FWT. Which sounds like it was moved from Russia to France because of weather issues. Here's a link:

I am so psyched to see Candide back out and competing and doing so well. His style is such an inspiration and SO smooth. I search bar'ed and didn't see this posted already, and it absolutely must be. That puts him in first so far for the overall tour. Next stop is the Tram face at Squaw and it should be awesome.

Who else agrees that this shit should be in the Olympics???

I remember years ago reading Freeskier about the things ski halfpipe needed to get into the Olympics were: an established world tour, something like participating athletes from 50+ countries, judging standards, and some high priced votes.

Well, what is holding back REAL skiing from this (also snowboarding)? What better way to showcase an Olympic venue than it's natural terrain?

I remember reading that same article. Yes. This should be the way Freeride skiing gets showcased, it would be awesome in the olympics or even an World Cup circuit. Candide is absolutely the man. How does he make it look so easy and relaxed? I've been on mountains like that and I know I am not that relaxed especially with competition butterflies too. Mad props to Candide. Plus K to you!

is it possible to get into the Olympics without having FIS inclusion? They already have an established world circuit...

i'm not sure if this would be a good event for the olympics. too many variables with the weather.

I mean, this comp was supposed to be in Russia, in the exact spot the next winter olympics are to be held, and it was cancelled due to weather and avalanche conditions. when was the last time you heard of an olympic event being outright cancelled?

the whole premise of a big mountain comp is a bit silly and hit or miss, the FWT is doing it right though, with no inspection runs or training... makes for a better competition on both the competitors and spectators side... but olympic worthy? Not sure about that.
