TREW is producing some incredibly technical outerwear that just so happens to look great.

Not to mention, they're sporting what is hands down the dopest logo out.

idk how tech it is..no one in there rite mind is ever gonna pay as much as they charge for outerwear.  even oakley and saga dont charge that much.

You know...I was a bit skeptical at first my self. I can honestly say after touching this stuff and being inches from it, that it rivals any of the heavyweights in the "tech" game.

Fully taped seams, 3 layer, over 20k/20k...The shit is bomber. There's really no comparison between what they're doing and some of NS's favorite brands.

Not sure where you ride, but I've spent some days in PA where I sure felt like I was in the shower....weird thing was, my cotton hoodie didn't perform all that well...

I'd choked a newborn for a TREW getup on those days.

Unfortunately, I think Trew should change their target market to try to attract more TGR-style skiers - guys who ride 100+ days per year. Not saying that nobody on NS rides that much, nor am I saying that everyone on TGR does.

Yeah, TREW is sick and burly, but they're not going to attract many of the general population of NS because of their price. Think of the past outerwear trends, within the past 4 or so years: Oakley O-Zone, G-Suit, Magic Suit, LDC, Saga - it's like a style falls out of favor here every year.

You hit the nail on the head, couldn't agree with you anymore...

That said, that's why I think their colorways moved away from the neon's and wild designs to a slightly more classic—yet cool—look; to attract a wider audience.

I'm 26, I love to jib (grew up skiing in PA), but I also won't go near a park when snow and terrain is around. I don't want to wear 2XLT saga (no hate), but I don't want to wear gear designed for people twince my age.

TREW fills an important niche....the growing up newschooler. They might be a few years ahead of their time, but they are doing the damn thing.

Very well said. I find that I'm leaning that way now too - I was never too into the fads, but I certainly found myself wanting the newest and coolest gear.

That being said, I think TREW is definitely doing something cool and fresh. I hope that my original post didn't come out as them not knowing what they are doing - by all means, those guys are much smarter than me when it comes to marketing their product. I just get frustrated when kids on here scoff at paying a lot of money for a good, quality suit!

I'm with you.

Kids on here are definitely willing to spend money...unfortunately, they seem much more about investing in an "image" and less interested in buying quality gear.

Trew's lured a handful of popular riders who will crank out some banger segments this year, and they'll see a spike in sales because of it. A lot more kids will be willing to shell out top dollar for their stuff, I think—even if for the "wrong" reasons.

TREWs shit looks solid. And id shell out that much for quality shit if its gonna last 4 seasons and  not look outdated. I really like how they toned downed the skittle steez of last yrs line. Its still fresh, but classic. And itll fit in on the hill for a while.

and i totally agree with calling "targeted to the growing up newschooler"

this. but younger NSers want a new suit every year so it doesnt seem worth it. older "growing up newschoolers" will most likely get less days in and not necessarily need a new suit every season so thats a good point. but i have to say i did buy the suit this year with most of the money i got to my name and i love it

I think the "growing up NS'er" market is the best thing happening right now. It took years for there to be a big enough segment of the sport, but now you're seeing some cool non-awkward teenage products. Maybe even a readable blog/zine or two?
Next thing I want to see is the slim fit bib pant.

the problem with trew is that for about the same price you can get a jacket like the armada galactic which is in my opinion nicer, and is way more tech and better with eVent

Can't really disagree with you, and I currently wear outerwear that's probly 1/4 the price. But on Wednesday I was out in a blizzard and I woulda killed to be in something with a higher waterproof/breathability rating.
TREW is probly gonna sell to people who need to be dry and can't just duck into the lodge to warm up/ dry off all the time. Or to kids with boatloads of money, but that's obvious.
