Macbook Pro help...

I have asked this before but have not figured it out...

I want to be able to put my screen on my TV via HDMI port/cable. What adapter do I have to get to use my tv as a monitor? Specific as possible, Im not the quickest one apparently. Do I have to get it through Apple, or can I get it somewhere else? Do you have experience with it working?

You need an apple mini DVI to HDMI cable. It plugs directly to the side of your macbook, then you just plug it to the HDMI cable that goes to the monitor.

Does it have to be apple brand? Because I have on that is dead on that picture and wont fit

If you have one of the newer aluminum unibody macbook pros you need you cant use the mini dvi adapter.  Apple came out with this retarded new port called the mini display port.  The only monitor that directly supports this output is their 24" cinema display.

What I did is get a mini display port to VGA adaptar and just hooked my computer up to my tv through VGA.  I've watched HD youtube videos on it and it looks surprisingly good.  I think that'd be the best way to connect your mbp to your tv.  I can take a pic of what you need it you'd like, just shoot me a PM.

the mini div port is the one with that looks like the upside down house type of thing correct? my cable is rectangular

there is something on the apple site called micro-DVI. Is that what the new MBPs have?

Just look at the pics and see if your port looks like that.

If there is a BLACK BORDER around your screen, that is what you want.  ^^

Alright.

The unibody's use a mini display port (it's apple's new retarded port that only they use.  It's dumb, i know...).  You can google "mini display port to hdmi" and then click on the shopping link and find one.  They're 5-15 bucks so it's not bad at all.

dvi=hdmi so no need for converting

And the only flaws I see in Macbook Pros; proprietary ports (mini display port, firewire 800) and when ripping a cd, it sounds like a helicopter

Dont buy it at Bestbuy, when I was buying mine, at least 15 dollars more at bestbuy than any other store in my mall
