I know this is a gaper question and it sounds dumb but ive always wondered what are skins and how do u use them?

gear talk....
and you use them with a touring set up... spark notes, you put em on your ski the enable you to slide foreward but not back so you can traverse up mountains so you can ski down... much easier then bootpacking but it has its limits

clip on and stick to the bottom of your skis allowing you to hike up hill with some sort of touring binding.

i just bought my first pair last week.
