The Pink Pedal - a cycling trip for the fight against breast cancer

As someone who has been signed up to Newschoolers for two years, but who has been a reader for many more, NS has given me so much. A way to waste time and helpful advice on gear and how to not bust my ass trying new tricks. Now I am asking for NS to help me a bit.

To help combat breast cancer, three friends and myself have teamed up with Susan G Komen for the Cure, the largest breast cancer organization in the world, to cycle across the United States raising money and awareness everywhere along the way to help fight this terrible disease. We will be video blogging, tweeting, and updating this page the entire way so everyone can follow our progress. Now we just need your help to show support for us so that we can gain as many sponsors as possible and so we can make this dream a reality.

this is such a cool thing that you are your friends are doing. i did something similar back in the summer of 2008 with one other friend and his dad in a support vehicle. if you have any questions about what it is like to be out on the road for an extended period of time hit me up and i will try and answer your questions. what route are you taking across the country? it was a life changing expierence for me and will never forgot the days on the road.

how long did that take you, and how much did it cost you without gas?

if you are talking about me... 

it took exactly 50 days with 8 full rest days. a total of about 3,800 miles from anacortes washington to boston mass. not incuding any of the bike equipment and considering the fact that we stayed at hotels/motels everynight i would say around 2,000. idk the exact figures because i let my parents figure it out. my family treated the expenses like it was a trip to europe or something like that, but just over a longer period of time i guess.
