And OhMyBosh. I never said I didn't care. But I'm a university student in the middle of my semester. I can't do anything.
We gave money and all we got were images of piles of food and supplies that weren't getting to victims. We sent our missionaries, but all we got was a group of crazy people arrested for child abduction.
Are you serious dude...how much bigger of a dick could you be? U even realize how many people were killed? How they went from being one of the poorest places in the world to now having nothing...You need to take a min and think about life brother and be thankful for everything you got. We should be caring.
so you want america to care about things you can do stuff about.....hmm like bitching about how we need to stop helping other countries. I do not know what scares me more the fact that you do not care about helping other people, or that you are a university student whose name is karmagod who is bitching about wanting to stop helping people.
not gunna lie, most of us dont give a shit or cant do anything to help, im in both of those categories. We barely do enough to keep our own people safe let alone hiatis.
So it's been 3 weeks. Do you people know what your government's plan to help the country is? Or is your idea of caring sending a text message and staying oblivious to those people somewhere off our coast?
o nice karmagod is back. if i remember correctly your just as big of a tool as last time. no i dont think that the US can stop pretending because we never were pretending we actually did something and cared about it. O yeah just to let you know my good friend at school lost his ENTIRE FAMILY in one day in haiti. so yeah i am american and i do fucking care. i hope you die in a fucking fire.
I couldn't care less about your friend's family. I do care about how a country is going to be rebuilt though. And $10 from a text is going to nothing but administrative costs.
i think that hes kind of being a jerk but its honestly sometimes true, people dont really care all that much because we never have experienced something of that magnitude. Dont get me wrong, i know there are people who are helping out there right now and props to them, but some people just dont care
once again, if people didn't care, you would have billions of dollars donated by an American public who could have easily said, "I can't spare anything because of this recession." Instead, you have millions of people donating money for a cause that they are completely removed from. You have doctors and nurses flying down there to help out, you have military personnel down there helping out, and you have a vast assortment of religious organizations going down. It's hard to say people don't care when you actually think logically for a second.
o yeah i forgot that no money has gone to haiti so far. have to actually looked into the situation at all and done any research what so ever or just trying to sound like a pick. according to cnn.com as of January 21st $305 million has been raised in the US so far for Haiti.
i didnt say nobody cared. i also said that i know there are people going down there to help out. I was just saying that there are people who dont understand really what happened or how extreme it was, and go on with their daily lives without thinking about it
no offense, but why do people have to think about them? They donate their money. That's enough. They have their own lives to live, who gives a damn if they think about Haiti when they listen to music? Thinking about those people won't help them one bit...the money will. I'd rather people donate food, clothing, money, etc than just think of them because that is one useless way to "help."
And who cares how much someone donates? the fact that they are giving 200,000 dollars is HUGE. Do you expect people to totally empty their bank accounts? No! Why the hell would anyone hate on someone who donates ANY amount of money?
I'm glad some people are starting to understand the meaning behind this thread. I don't mean to insult the individual. I'm sure none of you are like this...
But if you can, find someone who actually donated via a $10 text and ask them some news about Haiti. I bet you'll be shocked on how little they actually know about the situation.
dude that may be true for some people but its not fair to generalize that the American people dont care. many dont have the chance to do something. i helped to organize a dinner that 95 percent of my school attended. i did what i could to help and every person that attended helped as well. they could have easily walked to get a free meal but instead they took the time and money to help out. if you think that giving money is not caring i feel that your wrong. your not doesnt get put up on tv or in the paper you are doing it for a good cause.
they did do something. Acting with money is better than spending months researching why Haiti suffers from the infrastructural problems it does. How does "getting educated" help someone who is munching on a piece of blanket because they don't have food. How do good vibes help rescue someone who is trapped under a pile of rubble? It doesn't. Someone's 3 dollars helps out a lot more than someone's ruminations over why they are in the situation they are in. All they need to understand is that a fucking massive earthquake rocked the island and that the people need MONEY and SUPPLIES to survive and rebuild--not retrospective research and pity.
To the OP so you are an American and you don't care about another human being because their race is different and they live in a different place? Whats wrong with you. Spoiled rotten bitch.
We have people in the US in equally terrible situations as the Haitians. Why put so much emphasis on a foreign disaster? Also, we responded quicker to Haiti than hurricane katrina.
