Expectations too high for Lindsey Vonn

ok, so i've been hearing from a couple of different places about how lindsey vonn has a chance to win 5 gold medals. thats bs, and its unreasonable to expect that from her

ski racing cant be dominated in that way, its not like a lot of other sports. everyone that is in the start gate at any given race has a legitimate chance to win, the good racers are the ones who can consistently find themselves near the top.

just because mr. phelps was able to pull off the miraculous doesn't mean its going to happen again, and ski racing just isn't as predictable as swimming. (no insult to swimmers)

remember what happened last time we said a skier could win 5 golds? i think mr. miller is still gets shit from people for being such a disappointment.

You never know man, I know winning 5 golds is damn near impossible in ski racing, but just look at her world cup performance so far leading up to the games. She has won all but one downhill race this world cup season and she keeps on killing it. I'm not saying she is going to win 5 golds, but if she stays healthy and keeps skiing like she has been she has a pretty decent chance at making a run at it.

why did you call them mr. phelps and mr. miller? anyway, its not something to lose sleep over, its just hype to get more viewers

you say "ski racing cant be dominated that way"

too bad she actually IS dominating ski racing that way right now. yeah, its a really high expectation but in the world cup not that many other women can touch her

no doubt she is killing it right now, but i still feel like 5 golds is just an outlandish goal. in downhill and super g i think she has a really really good shot, but winning all the events is just too out there. i mean, 1 fall and its over. sure she is amazing, but to expect her to win all the events just isn't realistic.

and i'm not saying its completely impossible, its just that i get upset when people in the media, who know absolutely nothing about skiing or ski racing, make these ridiculous goals for racers. especially bc now, theres just that much more pressure on her, and that many more ignorant people expecting the unreasonable.
