The problem with the bird on a powder day is that ,because of the avalanche danger, they will only open portions at a time, so everything gets tracked out very rapidly on the areas that are available. Then a new lift will open and every one will zoom over there, and then that gets tracked out. On top of that unless you have inside info or are really lucky, plan on waiting in lines. Its frustrating because it can make a powder day really stressful when it should be anything but.
Alta will open more lifts at once so the crowds are more dispersed and there is less of a urgency to rush all over the place to get the fresh lines. At brighton or solitude this problem does not exist but you sacrifice the more extreme terrain and vertical feet of lcc.
