Recent Toyota recalls

Anyone following the latest recalls? I'm watching ABC and now some guy apparently came forward (some Toyota lawyer) and said that Japanese Toyota head honchos have tried to cover up all the defects (accelerator issue/Prius braking).

Background info for those that havent followed along: Toyota recalled half their cars from American dealerships and stopped their sales, saying that they were working on a pedal fix (which still isnt the issue). Now theyre recalling the Prius because of alleged brake failure problems.

Thoughts?

On an almost completely unrelated note, is this true?  I was always under the impression that fly by wire in most cases meant no cables at all, instead for fail safes I thought they just laid down a bunch of different pathways incase one failed

my family has had 3 yotas

82 pickup, totalled in a major accident

94 pickup, it was a standard cab and my dad sold it to get a better family truck

91 4runner, we picked this up recently, and except for a worn out front end it has had 0 issues.

sooo, older yotas are great imo

Fly by wire is when the aircraft is controlled by the pilot through a computer. MOST (every aircraft is different) have some kind of backup system in case the main FBW system fails. Failsafes can be double and triple redundancy computers, and/or hydraulic and mechanical systems. Main example i can think of is the A-10, which has all three.

it's not that it's a pussy car, but it's for really daft people who haven't realized that you can get better gas millage from a diesel, that would cost less and be much better to drive.
