Downloading Movies onto xbox harddrive

this might not be the place to ask, Media & Arts might be the better place but doesn't get as much attention so i'm wondering if anybody knows how to do this, or if its possible at all.

Like what's the point of my 250GB hard drive, i don't want 5 million stupid demos and gay little live shit, and i definitely dont have 250 gigs of music. Ive downloaded all my games onto it to reduce noise and loading times, but it would be AMAAAZING if i could just pop out my harddrive with like 20 movies on it and bring it over to a buddies know what I'm saying?

any response on how to do it or if its possible/not is great, and just to put this out there I did look this up on google, found so many mixed responses from "yeah its easy go buy this 80 thing and you can do it" to "no its impossible" ....

I have done a lot of searching and have come up with a general answer of "no."

Microsoft made it where the HD will only accept files to copy over that are digitally signed. That's why everything from the dashboard will copy over b/c its signed by microsoft.

I found some people that took apart their 360 and got a cable that connected the HD direct and then you reformat the xbox HD but I am not too sure the level of difficulty for that. :(

not to mention instant warranty violation. and possibly deleted live account as well if they consider that a "mod"

awww wth. so the 250 gig hard drive is literally the biggest waste of memory on the planet (if we exclude stupid demos and videos from marketplace.) lets face it, sure you can rent movies and i think even buy from live now, but enough to fill 250? NOT WORTH IT

i need it because games like forza 3 you have to install all sorts of stuff. and some games run a lot faster/better installed.

what I did is got a 20 gig hard drive for the xbox, and then dropped my extra money on a TB external.  I can download movies and tv shows directly to my external from my laptop, and then I plug it into my 360 with the usb cord and watch.  Its a great setup

This is what I do.

I have one of those WD pocket HD deals where you don't have to plug it in to a power source, only USB.


320gig and I can put everything on there and just play it off it.

i was going to buy one of those 2 days ago!! now i am definitly going to.
I've been meaning to buy a terabyte for footage and editing etc for a while now, and at bestbuy the other day i saw a pocket (no power cord) 500GB harddrive i was soo stoked cuz i could use it in 2 hour long cardrives up to our club every weekend now, and THIS ^ is just an even bigger bonus.
