As some of you may or may have not noticed... we have just launched version 1 of our iPhone app. 

This has been a long time in development, and I can't thank Adam and Ian enough for all their hard work on it. 

Notice that we took a different approach to this.   Yes, the app is a paid app, so you're going to have to shell out for it... but we kept it ad-free.   Bottom line, we had to hook up Adam as he put an unthinkable amount of work into this thing.

I'm stoked at trying this model of development out, and am really excited to see your guys opinions on it, as well as the adoption rate. 

Anyways, big shout out to Adam and Ian for all their hard work.    Couldn't have gotten here without you guys.

How the hell did I not notice this for a month. I've been using mobilesafari for NS and it sucks! I'm buying this for sure.

Also, will we ever see videos in this? I think it could be done, because if you download the h.264 videos and then transfer to ipod with itunes, the videos play. Safari just seems to not like them for some reason.

Videos do work on MobileSafari.app. You just have to press "VIEW ORIGINAL" or whatever. It would take some time to buffer depending on your connection.

Pictures work. They're just slightly more buggy in photo-intensive threads (i.e. YLYL).

Some threads (like the "Photo Contest 14" in Media and Arts) won't open- instead, iNS just closes and it goes back to the home screen. It's been consistent, repeatedly and unrelentlessly for a few days now, with that particular thread.

The stack of energy drinks next to me says I'm shooting to have this in to Apple by the end of the week. It takes Apple a few days to review. Regionals and My Threads are already added to iNS. I've got 1 bug to fix in My Threads and I want to fix the low memory warning for people with older iPods. I really hope to have those done Wednesday night so testers can verify everything is working.

Sorry about breaking my end of February promise. I've had lots of different things come up.

I think we should get all the regular features down first (video, all the forums, threads, searchbar, profiles, etc.) down before giving the elite their beloved banhammers in a convenient, yet fashionable form.

BUT, we've seen the elite few get their way at the expense of the masses before, so I wouldn't put it too far out there... [talking to you, Soviet Russia!]

a random thread button would be cool, but it should only work with threads made less than 2 days ago, so crazy old stuff is not bumped all the time

I think it would be a fun thing to have, especially when bored and looking for new threads. NS doesn't implement this at the moment, so figuring out how to do it on my own would be tricky.

you could even implement something similar to stumbleupon. like you check a couple boxes and it will find threads relevant to your general search field. (contests, ski gear, outdoor electronics, ect.) but i can see that being a gigantic pain in the ass to code. like almost unimaginable. you would some how have to add tags to all threads.

also that blog link didn't work for me.

^ Apple's site says the app is currently in review. As long as I didn't violate anything, my guess is that the app will be up within a day or 2.

I just got word from Apple that the app update is available. It should be online very soon. If you guys don't see an update (version 1.1) by Tuesday at noon, please, let me know.

I got it. the new my threads is really wired. it shows all threads that you have posted in. even ones that haven't been posted in since you looked at them

browsing the app for only a few minutes it all looks good except... i dont like how the navigation bar scrolls with the thread listing. it makes it harder to use if you scroll to the bottom and cant quickly switch fom my threads to main forums.

My Threads pulls from My Threads when you click All Threads ( https://www.newschoolers.com/web/forums/mythreads/type/all/ ). If you guys would like it to pull from New Threads ( https://www.newschoolers.com/web/forums/mythreads/type/new/ ) instead, please, let me know.

teleTay, I realize that. In most cases, it's not an issue unless you're a member of lots of cults or lots of threads. The easiest thing to do is tap the very top of the window. That will take you to the top of the table. I plan on making the change you talked about with the next release. The next release has a lot planned.

The My Threads thing is a simple change. If enough people want new threads, I'll either make My Threads go to New Threads or spend a little extra time and give you guys all the my thread options.

Awesome update, I agree with the other people who posted:

-change to new threads

-have my threads, regionals, main forum, and cult thing stay on top when you scroll

only things i can think of great job staying with the app, updating it with features users want

The Update Password thing doesn't work. I typed in the wrong one the first time I used it and i had to delete the app and reinstall it to fix it.
