Ski Resume

hey guys, a friend of mine whose son just swept the junior side of the Gatorade Free Flow tour  has asked me to write him a sort of resume/sponsorship solicitation.I don't have any experience with this (other than skiing/knowing about skiing myself) and was wondering what people in the know had to suggest, any advice on what to include, how to present it, etc.

present comp results, and you should probably put together an edit of some sort of him.

If you're writing for a sponsorship, make sure you emphasize that he's a good person, good representative of the companies, well liked, and a good person. Just as much as you emphasize his contest results.

Lots of kids win contests, but no sponsors want some dick head kid repping their products.

This... plus the kid needs to realize that being sponsored is a job rather than just getting free gear.

Put in there somewhere that he understands he is representing their company and WILL advertise their gear. Unless he is going to be some big shot on par with T-Wall or something they most likely will just want someone with skill, that will smile, look pretty, and know how to advertise the gear.

Sponsorship is a job, so write the sponsorship resume like one. Include age, education, skills, certifications (avi classes, drivers license, etc), relevant jobs (anything involving local mountains, the ski industry or action sports), and of course the comp resume. Also include a single play DVD edit. Gotta make it obvious that your guy is going to do everything possible to get the sponsor as much business as possible.

The future of sponsorships is that brands are going to start asking lots more of their athletes in terms of social media whether it be pushing content to their networks or providing quick video edits/photos on a regular basis.

Make sure he has a blog/website that includes comp results, bio, photos, press, videos, etc. If you can send a single link to a team manager with everything they need to know it makes its easier on them, and more likely they will check out his stuff.
