"do your own thing" can mean so much more then just doing it for fun and to ride with your friends.
someones "own thing" can be competing, training.
some people are just driven, the take the love and they use it to drive them.
now i do my own thing i ride as much as possible and im always learning new stuff but i dont train. i do however compete. i love the competition feel, although its stressfull at times there is no better feeling then stomping that run you wanted when shits on the line. you go from stressed out and tense to being more relaxed and more stoked then the first time you did a backflip in a few secconds.
your own thing is a personal thing. its doesnt mean ride to have fun and be a rebel, it can also mean to take that fun and work hard at it, compete and become more technical.
everyone always say "do your own thing noone cars" then next thing you know someone is getting shit on for dub flips.. ever consider that the dub flips are there thing?
if everyone did it for fun and never took it seriously then no one would realy be "doing there own thing"
as much as vanular pushes style and does it his way i think that bobby brown pushes technicality as his own thing.
