Which do you prefer to watch and upload ski edits on, Vimeo, Youtube, Or NS?

Just curious, I've been using vimeo, and it seems to be that new hot shit, what do you guys think is best?






I know, Non-skigabber and dumb thread....I dont care!

theres advantages to all of them, but i'd say i like vimeo with youtube as a close second. vimeo seems like better quality, but i like being able to move the time on a youtube video. and i just dont really like the ns player

Glad to see most of you saying Vimeo. I love their style but I still upload my stuff on both as well as a few European sites.

vimeo (best): higher quality, fast load times, easy to upload/watch
youtube: they keep improving it, but for some reason i still find it sub par compared to vimeo
ns video: sucks. uploading thing is terrible. ADs! lowest quality, decent load time, and for some reason it always seems buggy

vimeo has the best quality, but i have yet to be able to load a 1080p vid on youtube, so i can only critique that it takes forever to load, but the quality might be good. I don't like NS's uploader at all and i personally think the quality isnt that great, but it is always dependent on the edit.

I prefer youtube, vimeo is really slow and plays the edits really choppy for me.

sorry for the double post (after all, doubles are the craze)

The only reason to upload to ns video is to try to get video of the day, otherwise there is no incentive. It is super easy to embed.

I hate youtube. The sound quality is shitty, I have yet to see a video that actually looks decent on youtube and people that comment on youtube videos are dumber than theabortionator (jokes)

i used to put all my vids on vimeo before because ns and youtube sucked but now vimeo has a lot of things that has changed and youtube has upgraded its vids so its wayyy better and youtube offers way more exposure ... so id say for now youtube

Vimeo is great, but I must say that it's annoying that it isn't H.264. I like being able to watch videos on my iPhone. Thus, for a computer, Vimeo wins. For mobiles, YouTube wins.

It really means a lot to us when you upload your video to NS as well.

NS is a ski site. We don't have the hundreds of millions of investment dollars that people like Vimeo have... or Billions in Youtube's case. It can take us time to catch up to them because what is one lone soldier like Paul supposed to do against a team of engineers from Google?

Anyways, we partnered up with our parent company (www.grindtv.com) to create a new video system that will address all of these issues, and get us up to speed with all the major players out there. Its been a massive undertaking, as we're essentially ripping out every part of the site that has images or videos, and completely re-working it from scratch.

Its going to be epic. When will it be ready? When its right. Last thing I want to do is go from what we've got now to something else thats shitty.

Best thing for you to do is support skiing by uploading your videos to Newschoolers and linking to the higher quality vimeo vids. That way when we do our upgrade your video will still be in our system, and we can re-encode it to the new format.

Remember if you don't upload your video to newschoolers, it can't be featured, you can't be a part of NSTV, and you're basically handing skiing over to Vimeo/Youtube.

I get it - they have a compelling product. I completely understand. Just please do your best to at least stick with us, our sport will benefit in the end!
