People are always asking how to get sponsored. They're always asking "how can I make it as a pro skier?"

WELL... I guess CoreUPT decided to hook both up. I'm making a post about this because I want you guys to know how serious and important of an online contest this is. If you think you have what it takes to be a pro - this could easily launch your career.

It is not a joke.

For anyone out there who wants a chance at the spotlight, you seriously are a lazy idiot if you don't at least get a video in for this.

We're talking about a spot in the X-games Europe and a 3-year contract from CoreUPT. I mean come on, if that isn't making it I don't know what is. You'd skip years of hassling and competing... I'm sure whoever wins this will have a great shot at being in the US X-games next year.

So anyways, don't slack off. Get in there.


Steps for those of you who are bound to not read them:

1. Sign up for an account on CoreUPT.com
2. Upload a 3 minute video to www.zapiks.fr
3. SEND EMAIL to contestxgames@coreupt.com with a link to your vid in it
4. Include contact details in email.

DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES IS FEBRUARY 15th. That is two mondays from now.

So you have almost exactly TWO weeks.

Don't blow it. This is your chance!

This contest is actually really interesting, because it means a complete new comer ie rookie will be offered the opportunity. It really effectively prevents the pros or semi pros from entering due to the 3 year contract attached to it. So for example, LJ wouldn't enter/wouldn't be able to due to his pre-existing agreement with Line, and instead opens a whole bunch of doors for people who are there already but haven't been able to get out there as much or haven't had the right opportunity.

In essence this will be the new Superunknown, if you will.

Great idea CoreUPT, I guess we'll see how it goes.

seriously f these guys...they make no effort to organically grow their image and team and just keep trying to buy their coolness and place in skiing, which doesn't seem to be working. When you can't even get graphics on your samples for SIA or produce your own ski molds until 2 years after buying the most expensive team to date it says something about their lack of knowledge and how to enter a market. I'm new to this industry but quickly realize how terrible this brand is for the health of the support. Call me a hater, because yea...I'm hating on this big time. CoreNY adds no value to skiing.

youre looking at it the wrong way, bro, technical difficulties printing samples does not exactly mean they know nothing about skiing. and im not sure why you are holding have a dope team against them. this isnt the mlb, they dont have million dollar salaries, its not that big of a deal, they are marketing a product, and every motherfucker on this site knows who they are, who rides for them, and now wants to win their contest.

I genuinely don't think there is any guys without ski sponsors a the level required to be competitive at t X. Not quite sure who this contest is aimed at. Maybe AM's not locked in to contracts?

look man let me start by saying that i love line skis. both pairs of my skis are line, i tested the line binding when i was at uvm and i am planning on buying more lines when the ones i got die. that being said i want to know how the team manager of line (you, if i'm not mistaken) can be hating on a ski company for selling out or not being "core". line was bought by k2 and therefore a lot of their cred was lost (not enough to make me stop buying because i know that levinthal and pollard are still at the helm and the k2 factory produces bombproof skis). but seriously if you got nothing good to say why say it? coreupt is trying to hook some unknown skier up and i think that is legit. i would wait several years until their product has proven itself before i buy them, and even then i probably won't. i'm not saying they are the greatest company (k2/line would get my vote) but why all the hate?

i dont understand this lack of creativity...so they bring alot of their content to the web? i really doubt their reasoning is because they cant think of ideas themselves, its to get the customer or would-be customer involved, allowing them to embrace the brand. everything is going straight for the internet, these webisode crazes people have been on, online contests, its only fitting that a new company go hard at the new popular strategy.

i own 2 pairs of line skis, both of which i love, so i guess he wins. well i win out of that too i suppose, but seriously, lack of professionalism much? hating on a brand because they have a lot of money behind them is as illogical as it is lame. if he can explain why coreUPT is bad for skiing then i'm all ears. i know for example that without coreUPT, there would be no euro xgames. without coreUPT, the park in val d'isere would not have gone from perennial disappointment to arguably the best park in france. i know that all of this years coreUPT skis fuckin rock, contrary to popular expectation, and are cheaper than almost all of their competition over here in europe. i know a lot of young french kids who are blowing up thanks to coreUPT, and i know that thanks to coreUPT some random unknown kid will have the chance to make it big, in much the same vein as level 1's superunknown.

so again, if mr lineskis can explain to me exactly what it is about coreUPT that he finds so harmful to line ski sales [cough] i mean the sport of skiing, i'm all ears.

This would be awesome contest except for a few things. 3 year contract? Insane but that also means if someone else rides for another company they'd have to break the existing contract and I don't know many riders who don't have a ski sponsor capable of riding in the Xgames. And I bet most of the good riders entered SuperUnknown which means they can't leak any footage from their edit. Maybe I'm looking at it the wrong way but good luck to whoever enters seems like a dope opportunity.

I disagree with Malczyk, in that I think that anyone or any company that wants to throw money at this sport, much less give someone new a chance at the limelight, is doing good things for skiing, so long as they're not actively trying to cut the feet out from under others. That being said, you kids going after him for professionalism or whatever need to stop; he has a right to his opinion and it is honestly and legitimately held, whether you agree with it, or, like me, you don't. This is a skiing forum - if he wants to say something about a ski company, it's not out of bounds for him to do so, no matter who he works for.

just because it says 3year contract doesnt  mean you will be getting any money.. they would probably just give you product and pay for contest entry, flights, and hotels (which means you will probably be sleeping on the floor in a crowded room). Its still being a pro for a great company

Big ups to coreUPT, they have a solid team and are growing fast.. F* all the haters... coreUPT has a bigger budget and you hate on them for it? This is a great opportunity to get your name out there regardless of if you win. This gives you global exposure and puts you on coreUPTs radar as well as all the companies associated with them.

why not stop hating and send in a video? oh wait.. all you can do is afterbang a rail in your full tilts......

I hate to break everyone's bubble... but when you get started you really don't get a whole lot more than that.

The path to being a pro skier is long and hard. It isn't easy in any way shape or form, you need to work from the absolute bottom all the way up. Hell most kids with sponsors are only hooked up by local reps or shops anyways... which is awesome but pales in comparison to actually having a contract with a company.

This is an opportunity to skip all of that. Yes there's lots of people out there who already have a contract with a company, but I see threads on here constantly every single day hyping up someone who "will be the next hottest thing if he only got recognition" - Trust me that X-games is just about the best opportunity there is.

I mean contract aside... this is X GAMES we're talking about here. You place well at X and you're a pro overnight.

This is probably the only place in our sport right now where overnight success is even possible.

So if you think you have what it takes to be a pro - you need to enter this contest. Forget the hype and the hate - just focus on the opportunity.
