Do you see your massive mistake in the title? Chamonix is not Verbier... infact they are in two different countries. AND Verbier hosts the finals in March.

this is the best thing for the sport with freestyle guys winning big mountain comps i think it will help create alot more events like red bull line catcher and what not with more of a freestyle/ freeride concept with lips and shit. real skiing on real mountains with real snow

Well actually, Verbier is in Swiss and around 34Km (Globally, it's 64Km for a car) away from Chamonix, which is in France near the Mont-Blanc.

Awesome video BTW, Thovex is amazing the way he goes down those cliffs without any hesitation.

that was me trying to be sarcastic. you'd have to be a complete fucking retard to mix them up. at least if u live in europe.

Anyway it's an unbelieveable feat from Candide. You dont get much more all round than this. X games gold in slope and pipe and a FWT win. crazy! Only two skiers are imo in the same league; Tanner and Jon. For ten years they've been on top of their game, proving that they master all sorts of skiing.

i dunno if he ever won X but he is definitely super well rounded. mogul champ, big mountain killa, some dope park and pow segs, killed pipe back in the day.

but i dont think you can compare him to tanner. tanner wins everything he touches, has come back from like five would-be career ending injuries, consistently makes the sickest segments ever, and rides big mountain as well as anyone. hes def second only to candide.

that's a good pick though i'm certain he never won any X-games medals. he's def a better big mountain skier then a parkskier. as i've already mentioned Jon is def up there. He won the Nordic extreme championship (NM, oldest freeride comp in the world) back in 2004 over Henrik W, Manu Gaidet, Kaj, Sverre etc. and proved he can ski everything.

Anyway, I'd love to see Tanner in a REAL freeride comp. not really sure if he could pull it off.

Candide proving once more why he's a living legend.

Here's a quote from an interview he gave on Skipass.com while he was waiting for the results right after his run :
"I didn't come here with the intention of winning, this is the first stage of the tour so I just came here to compare my level with the others". (my translation isn't exact but you get the point)
It's like he doesn't realise how good he really is.

Why do people keep saying Tanner hall is as well rounded as the likes of Jon and Candide.

But I have never seem him shred a line like the guys from the FWT like candide has. and even Jon
Only big mountain stuff I have seen tanner do was in Alaska... just not the same.

correct me if im wrong...

Pretty stoked that due to Candide freestyles are paying more attention to the FWT finally.
And Henrik windstedt is actually pretty good at freestyle.. Just to add someone else into the equation of well rounded skiers.

exactly, he just doesn't shred that hard in the bc, no offense to him. maybe he could compete in the FWT but he really wouldn't do that well. not only does candide kill it in the park and bc but he's good enough at big mtn that he can win the fucking FWT...that's a big deal

it's funny how guys like henrik and candide start as some of the legendary park skiers, drop off the radar for a few years, and then explode back into big mtn and kill it. it's kind of a funny progression

Tanner has gotten better at skiing big AK lines over the years. However, he is not even close to being one of the best big mountain skiers in the world. I do respect how well rounded he has become as a skier.

Candide is unbelievable. No one touches him.
