Dynastar had it figured out way before Armada.

Armada is using the sidewall/cap construction in a lot of their skis next year. Sidewall underfoot and tapers off into cap towards the tip and tails. They only introduced it when they came out with their rockered skis a few years back. I just thought I'd point out that Dynastar has been doing this forever with their Trouble Maker skis. I am by no means, hating on Armada. I have JJs for pow. My park skis are the Dynastar troubles.
I've skied both cap skis and sidewall skis and the blend of the two with my Armadas and Dynastars and I think the mix of the two is the way to go. What does everyone else think? I'm surprised it took a brand like Armada so long to catch on to the benefits of mixing the two, when Dynastar has been doing it for so long.

it's not about catching up, it's about doing something similar without getting sued.  They have those plans for over 5 years now and have only been able to do it very recently.  Now that's not patent infringement, they have their own design (shared by Atomic, who presses their skis).

Aren't the Dynastars a lot more sidewall than the Armada's?
If I remember right they were mainly sidewall and went into cap right before the tip/tail.
I might be wrong but I guess it dosn't matter either way. It is a great idea I think. Armada seems to have done it right too. Having the sidewall just underfoot is great. I own both capped and sidewall park skis and definitely have things I like about both. Hopefully this brings out the best of the two as it does in my mind. I'm pretty pumped about it and thinking the next pair of park skis I get will have this tech.

Most skis are identical in 85% of their construction.

Think of it this way. Armada and Dynastar are doing it.
Who else is? not line, not rossi, not k2 just to name a few.

but i remember reading next years Hellbents are going to be sidewall/cap construction...

think it was in the 2011 gear thread.

DOPE, im looking into getting some bents for next year. I love the graphic, tho tis a love/hate relationship for most with the graphic on them.

I am absolutely loving the demented clown graphics on nexts years bents... I am definatly getting a pair haha.

I love that they made it wider too Should be interesting to see if it changes the feel much.

K2 all the way, i love dynastar i got the troubles also and i love them, but i just thick armada is over rated(dont get me wrong there a good company just like every compnay but every one ahs them)

and i think the only skis with our side walls are the after bangs!

rossi has or atleast had something similar with the mini cap or whatever its called. The topsheet goes partly down to the edges then turns to sidewall

Oh that makes a lot more sense. I always wondered why other brands hadn't used it cuz to me, it just seemed to make sense to blend the two constructions together. Anyways, Armada's line up looks sick. K2's does as well.
