Unfortunatly he commited suicide. He was a nice guy, devoted and talented filmer. Most footage from Charles Gagnier was from him for those who don't know who he was. R.I.P Éric, we will miss you man.

Hey Tyler from PBP here. I'm under the Fatmans account lilhorsey's password got taken from me/us. whoever changed that is a d-bag.
I want the community to know that Simard was a righteous dude!
I got the privilege to shoot with him during " Resons" and i have to say that he has changed my filming style forever. You see,.... Eric had a style/swagger about him that i hadn't fully appreciated. Eric filmed things as a Cinematographer would, not as a filmier. He Focused on the moments......the best parts of the trick.....the best parts of the shot. This was a new approach to me! I had alway given great attention to documenting a trick from start to finish. One Love Simard!

I'm deeply saddened by loosing a good friend and will miss him dearly . One thing i will do know is that every time i looking thorough my camera is i will ask myself how Simard would film it. He sets the standard. Big ups to Simard. My condolences to the Quebec crew. I feel for your loss.

I love Simard, That's Real. I'm balling my eyes out watching his footage .

Eric was my best friend. Without him I wouldn't know anything about skiing. His passion for this sport was so strong that he converted myself into a skier (was a snowboarder before). He even got me involved into his projects and I got a blast doing that.

I still can't believe what he did and probably won't. He will be missed forever on my side.

For those who didn't know him much, there's an edit online you guys can watch. It's all his work from winter 2007-2008 (Reasons). This video is mind blowing about how much great footage he got in a single winter. Eric, you were an amazing friend and talented filmer : http://paralines.net/Eric.mov

I've known Eric for many years now, I started working with him for his first ski movie ever.

He was a fun guy to be around even tho he had scary ideas at times. He will forever be missed by everyone who worked with him. His devotion to his work was incredible. I remember him driving 12 hours in 1 day to go shoot one handrail with his friends. I know he's been trought a bunch in the past years in his private life and struggling trying to make a living while doing what he loved: filming his friends skiing and hopefully get the chance to shred a bit while doing so.

+ vibes  to his familly and close friends.

RIP my man, I'll shred some turns for you.

so sad.  these times are hard and i know exactly what it's like going through financial/legal troubles it's hard to be happy sometimes but that's how it is for alot of people but u gotta proceed and enjoy the moments on the slopes w/ ur buddies.  RIP bro
